Free handing Spartan IV boots!Built from scratch! resin and fibreglass build

Hello RPF, working on the whole of a Spartan suit so here is the boots im planning on making , early stages at the moment but i have one boot with some of the basic shapes built up , so you can get an idea :) hope you like ! These are built around a pair of motorcycle racing boots, but i have just used the dremel to cut off the plastic armour as im adding my own ofc :devil

Need to figure out where exactly to fix these to the boots, also i need to fix some edges and under hangs to make sure they look more 3D then i can start to fibreglass :devil!!!

spartan legs 002.JPGDrawing out the shin armour on the card i use to build all my stuff! Looks abit messy but i got the shape in the end!
spartan legs 004.JPGThe cut out was a little scruffy because my knife is abit blunt, nothing abit of sanding can't fix once i resin it :D
spartan legs 009.JPG
spartan legs 010.JPGCutting out the little diamond shape which seems to connect the front half of the shin to the calf part (which i haven't done yet) After watching the Spartan ops films and the end to the halo 4 campaign, its awesome how the Spartans armour is drilled on in two halves! So i may under this little diamond shape have a sunk screw and fix my armour on that way so it when i take it off it will all collapse into separate pieces and then this diamond piece could be held on with a magnet so i can just pop it off when i need too!... Just an idea ATM but i really want to go with it !! Thumbs up :thumbsup

spartan boots and legs 005.JPG Here im measuring out the 10mm strip to go on the edges of my boots to make them look more solid and 3D ! glued them on how you can see below with the trusted glue gun ( OH how i love my glue gun :love)
spartan boots and legs 008.JPG
After glueing all the trims onto the boots i took the dremel and the scalpel and cut out the shape of the motorbike boot sole into the base of the Spartan boots so i can fit it on snug, I did it like this so that when i go to walk, the boot wont be put under a lot of stress, that's the plan anyway.. when i fibreglass them they will be hella' strong too so hopefully this theory works:thumbsup

I have some of that rubber so ill update again shortly too explain a tad better!

Here is the almost finished things.. i need to add little details and that but the basic shapes are pretty much there! Cant wait to finish the lower legs too! the shin guards are almost there.. just need to round them off a bit more and then do the back. Really hope i nail those because I've been looking forward to getting a good slender look!:D

( I also apologise for the pathetic red tape holding them in place:facepalm, they will be in a much better position in the real deal!!!)

Needed to update something on here to show I'm not a lazy ass, other project is on standby due to my sewing machine breaking :facepalm. So i built the calf part to Spartan boots/ legs I'm doing. I fibre glassed one of them but ran out of resin so going to get some of that tomorrow. Just need to fit the lower section of the calf part in there, i have to cut and tweak it before I fit it on though as I'm going to cut these in half and make them attachable :thumbsup More progress will explain what i mean in due time haha :lol

Spartan boot back 012.JPG

So I pretty much got the shape I wanted for the bottom half of the legs. They are not 100% accurate at all just from a distant they look okay haha, the ones ive been going for are the RG-63 Counter or the closest thing too them. the bottom is missing a little panel although it has to be left blank so i can actually put the boots on:facepalm ( i apologise for the mess and gubbins in my room, building with card and these are the consequences :D )

Little update

So while the weather is nice I thought I would do a few photos of myself modelling the lower leg. its a pretty nice fit ! I'm making the leathers into the under suit and I think I might cut and restitch the lower legs so they hug my knee area a little tighter !
