Had to dust off my 3d modeling knowledge from back in my half life days. this is what Ive got so far. I need to refine the bullet tip some and then add the vent rectangles. Unfold it and upload it and enjoy the pepakura goodness!.

any changes anyone sees fit in the general shape of it just let me know before I export it for unfolding.

*Update*
added vents but they are all separate. I think I should leave them like that to make the pep simple instead of having the body with the vents some crazy 3 week long folding job :lol Hopefully all being a one page print but if any pepakura guys out there have and advice on how to go about making tabs for the vents so that they line up with body feel free to comment! I think this will be a cool little desk prop IMO.

Sorry for taking longer than I originally wanted it to take. Ive been preoccupied with bondoing a helmet :angel

ALSO... I found a SWS sculpt of the helmet,
whaaaa.jpg

Is it just me or is the helmet completely different on each side at the temples... I flipped it in ms paint and outlined the areas in question... Can anyone clear that up?

Re: Free Ex-Wife WIP

pieces together for a better idea.
exxer2.jpg

size is matched to screen one almost perfectly with the exception of bullet tip.
Im hoping its going to be about 14 pieces total and a 1 sheet pep, tip*4 body*3 end cap *3 bents and inner 2 fins*1 each with a total of 4 slots making it a total of 14. Wow, that's alot of numbers. Im going to bed Ill work on it when I wake up some time today.

I'm going to ask..

What's this from? you said vents, makes me think of somehting from Wanted..nice 3d model..

Re: Free Ex-Wife *WIP*

well I wouldnt consider it a spoiler, lol its just a missile. lol
I guess this a kind an apology for not sharing pics that weren't allowed to be posted. I mean come on, what says Im sorry better than a gift! :lol
Thank you TrooperMatthew!

Re: Free Ex-Wife *WIP*

well, I mean you have to put it together yourself but I can make a skin *thats where its printed with the colors and texture on it* and it could be left like that or you could resin the inside and paint it up. Just trying to be a nice guy and give back to the community, I seem to have forgotten that its one of the greater things about the rpf. Ive been enjoying a mighty fine pepakura ironman helmet by dung beetle, and if everybody charged for their stuff it wouldn't be as rewarding as sharing it,IMO. It might take me a few days to finish it, Im not joking about having to dust off my modeling knowledge its been YEARS. lol

Re: Free Ex-Wife *WIP*

His description of what it does and then dropping the name of it had me rolling in the theater. Great work!

Re: Free Ex-Wife *WIP*

OK, does any other model makers know how to connect a concave box to the inside of the cylinder and delete the face that covers up that box?

Re: Free Ex-Wife *WIP*

I don't know what kind of commands Milkshape has, but i've been a long time Rhino user since 2001. That being said, I'll throw some ideas, maybe something will come up for you.

Fastest and easiest in Rhino is the Boolean Difference command. Does exactly what you're looking for automatically.

When that fails I get medieval on the model and simply split each object. For example, take your box and position it where you want it within the cylinder; making sure to keep the box elongated so that there is extra material sticking out. That ensure a good split; then you just split the cylinder with it and vice versa. Delete the unwanted surfaces from the box and the cylinder; then join the two.

Hope that helps!

EDIT: added some cool ass out of this world 3 Dimensional Computer Generated Imagery to help you out.

Pic 1 is the cylinder and box positioned where I want it

Pic 2 is exaggerated but it shows where I split the two objects

Pic 3 is when it's all done!
