I once had a former employee come up to me at a car show and pull his original employee ID card from his wallet. It said a lot about what he thought of his job there, when he still carried the card 35 years later.
That is awesome! I didn’t know at the time but my neighbor actually worked for a DMC dealership in Florida, been here all my life and never knew that
When I got mine on the road and he saw it, he came over one day with all his dmc work cloths and gave them to me..
One story that always stuck with me was
When they locked the doors to the factory dmc factory in Dunmurry, a bunch of workers stayed inside with no power.. they build 6 cars by hand, No assembly line working anymore.. they moved and pushed the cars around from station to station..
Quick example, 1 door weights 90lbs by itself.. let alone the whole car being moved by hand
their wife’s would throw their meals over the fence... for men to lock themselves in a dark powerless factory, and then build 6 cars by hand! FOR FREE, That is a huge statement for me..
It escapes me how long they locked themselves inside, I have to dig through my paper work. But it was a very long time..
Always wondered what happened to those 6 cars.. probably crushed on dumped in the ocean with all of the other machinery from the factory...
