It sort of looks like they got some of that kids spy gear, took it apart, and put half on each side of the glasses with some extra bits on the inside. Either way, it looks like you could take both sides and screw them together to make one toy. I think I'm explaining that right :lol

To me it looks like a blaster, I did a little editing and came up with that crappy Photoshop edit :lol
and you can see in the blue ring that there is something that looks like
glue (thus the whole thing is repainted silver) and in the red ring something that looks like a wire holding it in place.

That makes a lot of sense to me, there seems to be a clear "sight" on the end of the "muzzle", It fits with the speaker theory too.
