Foam Jaffa Horus guard headdress. FINISHED!!!!...

Re: Foam Jaffa Horus guard headdress. Started painting!!..

Thank you. I may do some drybrushing I am not sure yet. But here is the (so far) finished piece. I added some tassles and tried taking some artistic show photos. basically the prop with a curtain behind it. It was a bit tricky I took the photos with one hand while holding a flash light with the other trying to get a good lighting effect.
I hope you like it.

Incredible, extraordinary work!!!!
I envy you.

Can I suggest wetbrushing instead of dry brushing? It'll create "washed" effect, instead of "bare".
Use dark brown (brown+black), with combination
Or maybe spray matt black paint form a distance, just enough to create some "shading".
But that's just me.

I appreciate the tips on wet and dry brushing. Unfortunately at the moment the warmest it has been in a few months is -20, most days it is -41 with windechill, and all my spray painting has to be done outside as I have no where inside to spray so it will have to wait a few months, and before I do anything I will have to test on some spare foam. But I really do like the finish I already have so I may have to just build a second one. lol

Very cool dude seriously I used to be a Stargate fanatic still am but its calmed down since Prometheus came into my life :)

That lobster tail looks like it's mostly JFcustom templates.... Just a few mods left out...

Yup just like mention in post #15 on page 1,
"I would like to thank JFcustom, who during this build released some pep SG-1 files. I was able to use 3 pieces from his pep file to help with some parts of mine. I also was able to redo some of his pieces to cut down on glue lines.
90 % of this build is my own templates with the other 10% being JFcustom's pep file and like I say they were a big help."

I used pieces of his Lobster tail but I was able to edit the his template and make the pieces with less indivdual pieces thus less glue lines.

It seems I may have upset someone or several people with this build, I new I should not of bothered coming back to this site. I recieved an email almost accusing me of stealing templates and not giving enough credit. If others feel this way then I am truely sorry for this.

This PM from Durkness..
You are who you are...I won't try to change that. I could post this all over your thread but I don't want to upset you..... but your shell seems like a little more than 10 percent in my opinion. Out of your website and facebook you aren't giving him credit from what I saw.....you aren't even being honest about pretty much using most of the templates for the shell. Matches up pretty darn well considering you didin't do the undercuts on yours.

here is my reply.
While I appreciate you contacting me on this matter, Like I said I used 3 parts of his pep file, yes they are big parts, but 3 templates is not much when you consider how many other templates this whole piece is made up off. the head alone I used several templates. If I have upset you in anyway i apologise, if you know JF and he is upset with me I will gladly talk with him about this. I have already thanked him personaly for the great work he does. I used 3 pieces of his template to get the size right, however I combined those pieces and altered them a little to fit my build. As for saying the rest of it is copied I can assure you it is not, the fact that 2 people have built something the same using their own templates and it looks very similar can be said for hundreds of builds on this thread, If I have not given JF enough credit then I am sorry to him.

So as I have said, if I have offened anyone or failed to give credit or if it has seemed like I have mislead anyone then I am sorry.

I just recieved a message from JF, I appreciate the suport in this matter and feel a lot better now.

Hi Jamie :)
No one can stole my templates, because they are FREE ! Don't mind that much, everything is ok at my end.
I heard about it too. About a Horus head right ? If I remember well it's the one you started from scratch before I release a pdo, and that you finally completed using some of these templates. Nice work btw (y)
Thank you for you message, I don't know what to say. I'm not used to complain when the files I share are used... It's their whole purpose after all.

So if I have upset anyone else please let me know so I can appologise.

When you said you shouldn't have bothered coming back, it was not "The RPF" that private messaged you, it was me. So please do not take what I said and apply it to them. This website is a great gathering of tools and knowledge and people share their work. Mine was a singled out private message....which was misread and misunderstood, so you can call me out on it.... not the website or the community. I hope you understand that.

Don't let that take away from the fact you made a great piece and have had a outstanding response from everyone that has seen it on these boards.

Jaffa. Kree!
I'm a big fan of SG-1, an I have to say your Horus Guard looks fantastic! Just amazing. Thank you for sharing your methods and techniques. I've always made armor from rigid marerials (HDPE, PVC, steel) and its limited what I can do. This is pretty darn inspiring.

Gorgeous work. After seeing this build, I guess I'll have to add learning foamcraft to my ever growing list of things to do. Very well done!

hello
this is awesome work. i'm new to foam building and don't have a clue where to start. your stargate stuff is right up my alley. do you have any suggestions, pointer or templates i could use to get started?
