Foam Iron man helmet faceplate problem

by the way, I will most likely be ultimately creating a fiberglass/resin version... This is because, as a few people have mentioned, The first thing people look at is the helmet. If it's a little bo-bo, the rest of the suit starts looking a little more so as well. There seems to be certain effects that are tough to pull off in foam.

So, can someone please tell me... is it possible to create a helmet using resin and filler (bondo?) only, or is fiberglass always necessary? I'm not super familiar with these media, so I'm trying to gather info before the attempt. I seem to recall someone (was it projectearth7?) that made a helmet using resin and a filler (on top of card stock pep build) only... It would be nice to build with something more rigid than foam, but not as complicated or messy as fiberglass. Thoughts??

i think the problem with your faceplate is that you need to cut the sides that connect to the eye. by the way nice helmet.

ha thanks man, it clearly isn't much shown here, but thank you! also thanks for the input. I'm getting decent at cutting, and unlike what's pictured here, I'm getting good results using tape to keep glue from seeping through (Familyman style).

Looks to me that you've cut the edges of top faceplate part and the little side bits at a 45 degree angle making it a 90 degree angle.
