First post..My custom Sith Saber

I've been lurking in complete awe for a couple weeks now so I decided it was time to make myself known.

I've just recently gotten into prop building so I decided to start with my favorite prop of all time...The Lightsaber.

Thanks to the folks over at TCSS I was able to learn all the necessary skills and here is my very first custom saber.

Any comments are welcome as are name suggestions.

Most of this saber was made from MHS parts from The Custom Saber Shop.

I did add the holes around the blade holder and it was painted and polished by me.
I also added the copper "rings" around the joints which is actually 12 gauge wire bent around hilt.

I did all the wiring myself and it is currently running...

Red Lux III
2 x 700ma Buckpucks (wired in parallel for 1400ma)
4AAA battery pack
Hasbro's spring action saber sound card with custom clash sensors
MR speaker taken from SW-616 saber construction kit

It was a long process and it went through many style changes from conception to completion, but I love it and it has definately got me started on a new hobby.

I have 2 more sabers on the workbench right now and one concept that I will be making when the other 2 are complete.

After that I'm building a vac table to start working on various armor builds (Master Chief and Vader first)

Welcome!
Leave your wallet at the door.
Nice saber. What did you use for the pomel/endcap?

LOL, trust me i gave up my wallet months ago. That saber ran me about $500 with all the trial and error I went through. I'm extremely happy with the results though.

The pomel is a MHS piece from The Custom Saber shop with a speaker insert painted by me

Nice saber! Thanks for sharing the info on the build; the fact that it has a removable blade and audio effects is pretty sweet. :cool

Be sure to post the rest of your stuff in the future - I don't have the time nor the talent to do something like this, so I love admiring other folks' creations. :)

Thanks alot for the comment.

BTW the removable blade is 1" OD polycarb at 32" out of the blade holder with double wrap of Corbin's blade film on the inside for diffusion.

It is the closest thing I've found to indestructable and illuminated seeing as this is a fully duelable saber that will be getting lots of use in both fan films and conventions.

Thanks!

Just for kicks I thought I would post some pics of Version 1.0 of this saber

Differences include...

-Different ribbed section w/o v-grooves
-Filled ribbed sections with 1 3/16" O-rings for grip
-Paint is flat black and already chipping off eventhough these pics were taken same day as the paint dried
-Different Blade holder <~~~that was the peak of my frustration with this saber
-No sanding or polishing so hilt is dull and scratched

Well I think that does hope this helps everyone appreciate the labor of love this saber really was.
