Hey guys, I'm new here, I have recently started making my own Iron Man costume (for Halloween and Deecon). I have never done anything like this before but I'd like to think I'm doing okay. I've been doing this for 3 months or so now and have enjoyed every minute of it! Obviously with it being an Iron Man costume you have all seen it done before on numerous occassions, and it's only in the first stages being glued together and readied for resin and body filler so it may not be all that interesting - but, I figured I'd post a few pictures of my progress and attempt to show off what I've done so far, criticism and suggestions would be fantastic, any tips on how to do different pieces, what I can do to join pieces and whatnot. Have a look and let me know what you all think!

This is a little collage of some of the pieces I've made, I admit, not all of them are perfect but it'll have to do, when it comes to body filling - I'll neaten them up and make them look good!

In the bottom middle picture, the left bicep accidentally turned round my arm so it looks silly, once it's all hardened and connected - that won't happen and it'll look good, hopefully. The thigh in that picture also comes up higher but it had been scaled to fit me wearing a morphsuit, not joggers.

This is the start of my duct-tape mannequin (Thanks to Stealth) It should be a life size representation of my body, so it should help me in sizing the pieces to fit myself. Still waiting to get myself some PVC pipes and connectors.

Obviously I have a lot more to do, and I still need to resize the abs and codpiece which is near impossible to do without a ready mannequin. I'll update more as I go.

I started making the helmet with cardstock, that took 7 hours just to cut all the pieces out then another 5 hours to glue it altogether. Foam is so much easier, you get better the more you practice, my latest helmet took me 4 hours to cut out all the pieces in cardstock, draw it all onto foam/cutout then glue together. Really easy with a little practice, I'd recommend foam for beginners like myself, cardstock is a long draining process.

Hey guys, I'm actually having a little difficulty with this build. I'm making it out of foam, covering it in pva with a few layers then using resin. I'm not fiber glassing or body filling it - it'll take too long and I have little time as it is. I'm trying to sand down the pieces I've resin'd and it's messing up the pieces even more - anyone have any experience with sanding liquid plastic etc? Tips? Anything? Getting desperate here.

Looks really good! 3 months well spent!

I purchased a silhouette cameo cutter it really speeds the build progress up... this weekend ive got my neck cut and built and my chest cut and built :p
