I was recently bitten by the costuming bug and decided to do a Cobra Viper based on the 80's action figure (one of my all-time favorite figures). I just used to costume for the first time at the Philadelphia Wizard Con this past weekend.
The costume base is standard military style BDUs in navy blue. The pants were modified by having red stripes sewed down the legs. The boots are Chippewah motercycle boots from ebay. The knee pads are a simple tactical style pad that you can find at most tactical/paintball outlets. The vest is also standard military molle vest with modifications. I replaced the black side release buckles with red ones. I sewed the red padding that is attached to the shoulders and along the side of the torso. I sewed on a cobra patch bought from ebay. I hand sculpted and cast the grenades in resin. The arm guards are homemade. The red gloves were purchased at home depot. I bought the airsoft rifle from some internet site and spray painted it gray to look like the one used by the action figure. The helmet was purchased from hurricane lenny at Pit Viper studios (easily found on google).
I thought it turned out good for my first effort. It looks pretty good and it wasn't a very difficult start. Wearing the costume at the con was a lot of fun. Like I said earlier, I have been bitten by the bug and I have many other costumes that I would like to tackle in the future.
I included a couple of "action shots" taken at home and a shot from the con with a baroness and scooby-doo.:lol
