Finished my Yoda head sculpt

No problem Alberto. Glad you like him. I'm really thinking of selling them as finished Heads, Hands and Feet. I would only sell them as I finish them. I don't want to pressure myself with a list or a run. My job and family doesn't always allow the time I need to work on these things. You'll be the first to know Alberto. Thanks.

You won't have any pressure at all on this from me mate,)
I really appreciate Your work and didn't want to miss this great Yoda sculpt! Take all the time You need!!! :thumbsup
Just wanted to be sure not being annoying neither bothering You too much!! :angel:angel
Can't wait to see more advance in the painting process, having seen what You've been capable of un the sculpt, I assume will end up even better than the movie one!!!(y)cheers

Kind regards,

Alberto

If you do a run please inform so at this thread (in case we might miss it on the classifieds....)
You'd only sell it painted? And only the head?
Congrats again on the great job

Not just the head. It would be the head, hands and feet. My thought is that it would be a finished kit ready to assemble on to your own crafted body. Thanks for the kind words.

Here is another update. Here is another one painted up with eyes temporarily installed. photo 1.JPGphoto 2.JPGphoto 4.JPGYoda (13).JPG

WOHA, looks even more accurate than a screen shot, the eyes give it the final touch!!:eek
Would You mind telling us what You used for the eyes?
Regards,

Alberto

I made the eyes. I would include a set of eyes with this as well. Really happy with them considering I never made eyes before. Thanks again Alberto.

This is staggering for your second build. How are you doing the eyes?

I molded a half sphere and I painted them. The whites are a light mix of yellows and grays. The iris is painted and colored penciled using greens browns and yellows. I coat it with a high gloss clear epoxy resin that has a glass like finish. It worked really good.

How do you coat the epoxy resin? Pouring/dipping? I'm trying to figure out the best way to create durable eyes.

Not sure if the epoxy resin I am using is similar to other types but this kind I just pour slowly over the iris to fill it in and lightly pour over the rest of the eye. I even spread it a bit with the mixing stick because this stuff will want to settle nice and smooth like glass. I use one of those butane lighters and hover just over it and it wipes out any bubbles that are there. It takes a long time to fully cure though. Sometimes a few days depending on the temperature. Just be patient so you don't get fingerprints and ruin that nice glossy look.

Getting close to doing a run. I just need to figure out shipping so I can figure out my pricing. I've decided to do raw casts and not painted sets. It just takes too long and I think most people want to build their own anyway. It will be a set consisting of a head, set of hands, set of feet, and a pair of unpainted eyes. I'll be posting soon with an update.

Smurf, I'm impressed. I made a marionette 1:1 Yoda puppet back in 2000 for my Halloween "costume."

It went over like gangbusters.

Great work!

Going to be posting in the Project Runs forum a little later. Just giving everyone a heads up. I'll have about 5 kits ready to go for the first five takers. I'll only take PayPal when I have the kits made and ready to ship to avoid any problems.

Figured I'd add some pics for anyone that hasn't seen them in the other thread.
