Fine molds Falcon Death Star hanger WIP

Wow,
Thanks for all the great comments. I will try to keep the updates coming, I have been working on this for a while now. Right now is is not even assembled yet, just set together.

There is so much more planned. The entrance wall from space will be added as will the opposite wall from it.
In the corner above the hallways it will have the corner tower where the Imperial officer looks down at luke's "bad communicator". That control room will have the closet R2 & 3PO hid in. The window where Leia comments on the falcons apearance will be incoropated in the wall somewhere.

Here are some test shots of the figures (some are laying down and some are not the ones to be used).

The idea in the end is to build this as a stand for DVD player, Stereo equipment, etc. This will be the top and the rest will look like death star substructure.

I can dream high cant I?????

Apparently you can do whatever the hell you want. I'm still amazed at this.

Remember, the metal mini-playset figures produced back in the early 80s are in scale, and so are the old Grenadier 25mm miniatures.

Oh my stars....

You've definitely put the word "inspired" in "fan-inspired" and still the description falls short of anything I can come up with in my speechless state..... :eek

PL "You came here in that!? You're braver than I thought!"

HS "Nice...! Come on! "

That has to be one of my favorite moments in the movie, Its just the way Han says "nice".

Here are some pics of the original dio I did like this. Not nearly as cool...

Hearing everyones excitment is getting me excited about this project again. I have too many projects going right now LOL
(1/6 falcon interior partial dio, deathstar hanger dio, Luke and Vader in the trench dio: pro shop x-wing scale, Large Ertl x-wing & Tie fighter dio, A-wing crashing through Star Destroyer bridge dio and a bunch of smaller dios I want to build).

If I get one of them done I will be surprised!!!!

Dude, this is seriously freaking GENIUS! I ALWAYS display my ships in an in flight mode, but I am seriously considering dropping $200 on another Falcon to do this.

Heh, or I could drop $10 on an Ertl falcon and have the correct number of landing gears for a death star parking job. :lol

Edit: Heh, I just noticed you only have three of the landing gears deployed. Good show, my man.

Yeah, I debated whether to cut out the landing bays or just not deploy the gear...so I went the easy way, No gear!

I forgot about the old metal minis, I used to have the cloud city playset, LOL. I use mostly Micro machines figures and a few fine molds figures also.

Would there be interest if I were to offer: (once I am able to use the junkyard) the rear wall castings and the flat hallway wall sections, the floor graphic, the space entrance wall graphic, and the white vinyl "lights" for the light towers on the rear wall?

Kind of a partial hanger bay Kit, would that be worth aprox. $500 to anyone? (this would be a lot of work to produce, digital prints, vinyl graphics, sintra parts and resin parts).

I'd personally rather make one myself. Just more fun to me. I'm sure there are a few people here who'd love to buy one, though.

However, I might be able to get you a deal on the vinyl graphics (and sintra). My brother helps run a major sign fabrication company. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Yeah making it is the fun part. Thaks for the offer of help. I am the manager of a graphics dept at a body shop, I have a roland 54" printer, a gerber FX thermal printer and a few plotters, so I have the media covered. The castings are the expensive part, the back wall took a bunch of resin to do. I recived a few PM's askimg about Kits of this so I thought I would gauge the interest level.

If you've got the molds made up of the walls a kit might not be to bad really... I'd be interested as long as it was not REALLY expensive ;)

It is impressive though I might be tempted even if it was :eek

Excellent! That is a sweet piece of work! Reminds me how close Luke really was to those stormtroopers when the lasers were flying everywhere. lol!
