I managed to get the rest of the black paint on and was just about to start doing the silver areas with AK Interactive True Metal wax based paints... but then I decided if I'm going to do it I may as well do it right and really turn it into a 'hero' prop. The barrel on the original hero is clearly an aluminium tube, and the top tube is clearly a solid metal rod. So I'm going to hack the fiberglass tubes off and replace them with metal ones.
Also going to get the front and rear barrel blocks machined and add the brass rods at the front sight.

Other than some blueprinting and buying materials, the barrel upgrades haven't been produced yet. In the meantime I made the sling which is copied from one of the hero props. The base sling is from an AK and features the leather strap and accurate buckle seen at the back of the prop (thank Sidewinder). I need to darken the leather a bit more.
