FIBERGLASS 'Showing' (Rubie's Vader) REMEDY?

I have a life-size Rubies Vader that I had temporarily covered with a sheet in the basement...

Have him on display now, and on the one side of his helmet, you can now see all the fiberglass fibers showing through (It's not pure gloss black anymore).

Can this be polished or remedied?

I have not really investigated yet - As I uncovered it around 2am while working in the basement...

Guessing there may be some translucent properties taking place.

It's just that when you look at the helmet, you can clearly see the 'fibers' of the fiberglass...

It is black and smooth, but not gloss black, as again, you can see the spider webs or veins of the material beneath.

I'll try and get some pics - But does that help at all?

Any suggestions for that procedure... (i.e. paints / finishes, as I do not know the 'factory' procedures that were in place, when they produced it)

(And does anyone know if that helmet is easily removable at all? - Guessing not)

Any other Rubies/Vader owners out there? Any similar events?
