Female Speed Racer Cosplay

Great costume idea and execution! You look fantastic.I just love Speed Racer (made one for my son once) and it is so fun to see a female version of the costume!

This was about 3-4 years ago, and he's grown up so much since then...

In the pose.
With his brother as Racer X... I made one of the jackets from the movie and he wore it as his regular jacket for 2 years after. Best use of my time making a costume for my kids. I have spent months on something they wear 2-3x.
With is cousin as Trixie

You did an awesome job on all of their costumes, too!
The movie may have worked better if they had cast your family.
BTW - The Speed Racer shirt with the G is sold on ebay - my friend bought one and it looks fantastic.

nadeem1baksh: The helmet is actually a BMX helmet that I found at a thrift store for about $3 or $4. Haha. I just bought some paint that would work on plastic, and gave it a few layers of white. I had electrical tape to make the "M" but it vanished the day of the con, so I had to use sharpie. Actually, 3 sharpies since it didn't want to draw on the paint very well if I used it for more than 5 seconds at a time.
I'd love to re-vamp the costume someday and wear it to DragonCon this year... but I don't know if I can afford the ticket. If I did, I would go with my original idea and do a pin-up Speed Racer. I've always thought that that would be an awesome costume.
