Fantastic Four First Steps Marvel Studios MCU

I saw a wicked late showing last night, I didn’t realize there were 2 end credit scenes.. I only got to see the first one, which left me with goosebumps

I really enjoyed the film
The 2nd final end scene was just a close up of a tv playing the cartoon. Nothing major at all.
I liked how the film was set in a retro type alternate 1960s. Wonder how they plan to bring the Fantastic 4 into the Avengers with that setting. Maybe keep it, change the time, or just ignore it.

I saw it last night and really enjoyed it. I had lower expectations going in (though I was truly hoping for the best - I didn't want it to be bad), so maybe that helped a bit, but I thought it was a well-made, and especially well-acted movie. I can see some parallels between this and WandaVision, (as Matt Shakman was responsible for both), mainly how Wanda and Sue both have strong maternal bonds for their children and will do anything for them.
(in this film, Sue may be the most powerful FF member)
Kirby and Pascal had great scenes together, so the emotional impact of what was happening really came across.

I will say that, while I liked and understood the quick recapping of the FF's exploits and origin, I still felt like the movie was rushing to get to the Galactus story. I would've liked a little more time to get to know the team and see them fight together before getting to the main story. Once we got there, though, I was all in.

I enjoyed the 1960s-esque retro-future esthetic quite a bit. It helped set this film apart from the other MCU outings, as well as other superhero/sci-fi films. I could nitpick some of the FX - it seems like a lot of 3D CGI that we're seeing now - in this and in other projects (like "Superman") - has a similar unrealistic look. I realize they're creating CGI creatures which are unrealistic in nature, but some things end up looking sort of like they're made of clay, like some of the creatures and the Silver Surfer. The Thing looked good, though, including his clothes. He's a tough character to pull off, but it looked like he fit in the scenes. There were some issues with him holding the live baby, though.

BTW - I know it's impossible to get a real newborn baby to use in a movie, but that baby was HUGE. I feel bad for Sue's gooch. If only she had her husband's stretching abilities.

I feel the opposite, I guess. I think the quick recap was enough, especially since we had F4 1 and 2 in 2005/2007, and Fan4tastic in 2015 that have gone over all of that.

During the film, I turned to my wife and said: "That's a 2 month old!"

I liked this movie way more than I expected. Originally the casting was an issue for me but after watching, it really worked. The retro futurism was great. The family theme of the movie was great.

It didn’t feel like a formulaic marvel movie. It felt inspired. I liked the organic way Sue rose to the occasion/leadership role. I really liked the FAMILY motif.

It didnt have quite the emotional finale that Superman had but the mid- credit scene was really intriguing. The in world “fantastic four” sung theme was, welll, fantastic…

To clarify, I was fine with how the recap was done, but the recap plus everything up to Galactus felt a little rushed to me.

The second one was more of a humourous scene with no big connection to the future of the MCU.

Maybe they had to composite the baby into some scenes due to working laws.

I would disagree on the point about the CGI characters, especially the Silver Surfer, I thought the VFX were amazing for the character.

I'm glad you enjoyed the film overall though.
I think we finally got the definitive Fantastic Four into the MCU.
It will be interesting to see them interact with the other Avengers, Guardians and Thunderbolts* (New Avengers) in Avengers Doomsday.

Thanks guys, I have been looking all day yesterday and couldn’t find the second scene

I keep reading that the second scene was how the 4 get into the 616 universe

Thanks for clearing it up

So call me dumb…

but if galactus pulled a fat b@stard and ate the baby, he wouldn’t need to eat planets anymore?

Because the baby has some all time powerful universal energy?

Correct.
Galactus says Franklin would "take this eternal hunger and this throne" or words to that effect.

Saw it last night, it was really good. In fact, it was better than Superman, which I also enjoyed. I can't think of anything that really stood out as a problem in FF, whereas there were certainly things in Superman that I had issues with. Honestly, I didn't think Marvel had it in them to make a decent movie anymore.

C-section is also a possibility:p:p

Enjoyed it.

Maybe only because it was the 3D version, but a couple of composited foreground pieces were REALLY flat and pasted-on-looking.

I couldn't stop thinking about how messy a zero-G birth would be. Eek.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. I think it's a really good companion piece to Superman this summer.

The CG was mostly great (a little wonky on some of the baby shots, and the scene near the beginning when everyone gets out of the fantasticar didn't read quite right to my eyes). The aesthetic is so damn good, and the vibes are immaculate.

Each of the four is characterized well, and none of them stray from their comic book counterparts too much. Reed is a little more standoffish in the movie than I read him in the comics, and Johnny is a little less obnoxious than I recall, and Ben is just perfect, if a bit less morose about his condition than we're accustomed to seeing. But Vanessa Kirby is perfect as Sue Storm. Just nailed it. That is the mom of the marvel universe right there.

I enjoyed the movie but def feels like the pacing was odd? Did they cut a lot of the movie? It feels like some story threading is missing.
I did prefer it over Superman, I grew a bit tiresome of James Gunn's style, but Marvel really has been having difficulties to tell stories without rushing them, as their purpose has been to tie one movie to another as of late.

Like everyone else says, the baby cgi was very distracting at times lol. But the overall design is pretty cool, really did feel like the Incredibles in some ways haha.

One thing I'd like to see from Marvel is the Thanos/Galactus/Hunger story. That I would SO watch haha.

The good reviews are salt in the wound. I'm too pissed to ever see it and couldn't tolerate another in Norrin Radd's rightful place, I can't shake that off. Why did they have to screw up MY favorite? They could have screwed up so many others I don't care about instead! LOL

...I've delivered babies. That was a BIG "PG" scene for a zero-gravity birth, when the actual whole process is a hard "R".

My wife laughed and commented about how "messy" things would be floating around, etc.

I noticed a LOT of scenes were very fast paced.
I just happend to read today that a lot was cut, but the director has already said that it would just be too much to try and rework it for a longer directors cut, which is too bad, as it would help some scenes for sure.

And as for the baby....during the birth scene, I said to my friend, "Awww, look at the cute little cgi baby."

That's a shame. I feel we rarely get director's cuts anymore, kinda blaming Disney for this :v.

Haha, it's funny how people were going "awww" during the birth scene and my hubby and I went like "eww". I think we were expecting gross things flying by
