Fallout: New Vegas (Video Game)

lol. Yeah they used putting in some quarters or something like that to rough it up. I don't have a dryer though lol. I didnt have much luck finding paper that even remotely looks like the stuff the mint uses (probably a reason for that) so i just went with some nice cream colored paper since the thing will print out in the correct colors over it.

Nice, I can not wait to see how it looks :D
....I also (still) think that the Legion coins would be epic (if mad from aluminium).
Oh, I guess the thread has been changed XD
Is this now the New vegas paper prop thread, instead of the ncr cash thread??

lol. it seems like it. sorry about that, its kinda why i made the fan thread so all the other props could go in there if need be. The coins would be nice but i don't know any engravers that don't charge a fortune.

I dont mind, and yea it would be expensive. Plus the legion coin to cap ratio is obnoxious, so idk if it would be worth it :p

lol. Its getting hard to find large glass soda bottles. Sigma's looking for some as apparently they have large ones where he is. The largest glass coke bottles i found are 8oz and i swear they were a lot bigger when i was little. We have a place that does aluminum engraving near here called Wendel August Forge (you can google it as they sell online) and they've been doing it for like 200 years so they'd be the ones to do it but man i hate to see the price per coin after getting the die made.

lol. I'm betting by the time you have them engrave the die and then make the coins its a few grand which is heavy inflation.

My local grocery store (Publix) sells 355 mL glass Mexican Coke bottles.

They are about 9.5 x 2.5 inches.

I'm sure you've heard this before, but check the 'ethnic' food section of your grocery stores. If they aren't with the regular sodas, they may be with the weird Mexican sodas there.

As far as paper money goes, be careful :) If you printed them out on an inkjet printer, the ink may run when exposed to your damp clothes. And you probably don't want ink on your clothes.

As for money-like paper, you should be able to find a heavy, off-white paper (maybe with cotton content) at an office supply store. It will be with the fancy papers and resume papers and such.

Yeah i got a variety pack of fancy papers with slight color variations and such. I'll have to check the local stores for the larger soda bottles. I hate when they pull that kinda stuff and not put it all over the store.

Use linen paper. Its about as close to "money" as you'll get. Alternatively, use coffee soaked office paper. The coffee gives it wonderful color and makes it a bit more crisp. Soak it and let it dry before printing obviously.

I also second the idea of being very careful about inkjet. I lost an entire run of 1918 Dollar Bills I made for a photo shoot because I accidentaly dripped water on them. Those things were a pain in the ass to make too. :wacko

Good if some moron tries to pass them off as real but, bad for mishaps.

Is heavy paper so good though? Shouldn't the paper be thinner than regular paper?

I only meant something heavier than 'normal' paper. Cardstock, for example, would be too heavy :)

The final decision is up to the creator, of course.

I personally prefer slightly heaver-than-average papers, because I believe they give a more realistic feel in the hand and provide slightly increased durability.

I see :)

I believe you are right about the feel of slightly heavier paper. And as I am probably putting a few of the NCR notes in my wallet, I'm all for increased durability ;)

well like I said, if you guys make perfect replicas, which feel like real money, and look like the game. Let me know if it would cost anything to send me one or two of each...I may want to buy some if I have money :D

lol. i need to stop being lazy. Well even if they aren't perfect I bet someone is making fakes in the game universe just like they are bottlecaps.

lol Yeah i manage to get some of those too. I blew alice in half with the riotgun before i had a chance to destroy the press at the bottle factory though lol.

I havnt gotten there yet, however I have also not met alice, nor have I been in the bottle factory, so no harm done :D
