Since my AER9 Build Thread is wrapping up (located at http://www.therpf.com/f9/fallout-aer9-laser-rifle-build-thread-103657/ ), I took on another, simpler project. Since my rifle is going to be cast, I figured I could re-use some parts from that build in this one - namely, the end-caps. The AEP7 would be a neat companion for my AER9, and since I had a lot of leftover material, I got to work.
First, I took a Nerf Gun, a Clear Series Nite Finder, and cut that up. The grip was closest to that of the AEP7, and it had another feature that I was interested in.
So, I cut the grip off, rotated the trigger sixty degrees, installed it on a wooden board, and this is what I had.
Doing the barrel was the work of another few minutes:
And, since I got the clear version, I was able to direct my cuts properly so that I could salvage the components to make this little beauty:
Getting the array lined up properly took some time, but I ended up with this.
Once the barrel was properly routed and glued on, this is what we end up with so far.
Unlike my AER9 build, this will light up, and the trigger is obviously already assembled and working properly. This build ought to be much simpler than the rifle, because half of it's already done, and because I learned a bunch from my AER9 build. Soon enough, I hope to end up with this:
Thanks for looking.
