First real update.
For some reason some of the files wont show the thumbnails and the ones that do seem to be rotated to the side. I have no idea what is causing this so i apologize.
I have done a lot of work and have basically finished the basic shape of the main torso piece. Will need to be smoothed off and refined but that shouldn't be too difficult.

My first step was to create a basic frame to mount the torso piece onto. I thought about just having the foam support itself but I thought since the piece is so large it would be best to have some structure to it. I laid out and fixed some pieces onto it that would become the core.

Next up i shaped the back and added a basic side to the structure.
Then I moved onto the back, adding a PVC pipe to form the back cylinder. I added foam around that to match the shape of my reference pictures.

The fusion core housing was fairly straight forward, just a ring of foam with a few cuts around the edges. I used a heat gun to make the lines easier to see.
The two tanks on the back were interesting to say the least. I managed to get access to a 3d printer so I was able to make a top and bottom for a PVC pipe. the top was a basic half dome while the bottom had a hole for a pipe and a small rim along the wider end.
Mounting them were fairly simple, a few cuts into the foam made the sink into the body enough for the shape to work like the real thing.
Next up I made a wall under the fusion core ring so it didn't look like it was floating there. I also created some foam guides for how i want the back contours to go.
This took a lot of trial and error. Since i have no plans for this and being very new to foam construction it took a long time to get right. the foam bends around the tanks while going under the end. It came out fairly well i think. I will add the upside triangle after its all been smoothed off.
Just a look from the top.

Now for the weird part, i filled the back with expanding foam, its not something ive seen done but i had a can onhand and i figured it would work well and i feel it did in the end.

Doing some more work on the sides, I also pulled the front out. I wasn't very happy with the profile and this change seemed to have fixed it in my eyes. Lastly i added another layer on the front to give it the required shape.
