Fallout 4 Protectron 3D print

Hello!

I want to share my new 3D printed work. Model was designed by Daniel Lilygreen https://www.myminifactory.com/object/fallout-4-protectron-action-figure-15585
Model was made on simple FDM printer from ABS. Parts were smoothed in acetone vapor and painted with acrylics and enamel paints. Paint job is not game accurate, I made it to learn new rust painting techniques that I found on this forums. After silver base color, areas where rust is supposed to be were painted brown/black/yellow/red and dipped in salt when the paint was still wet. Model masked with salt was then painted with spray paint. When all was dry, salt areas were covered with watery acrylic paints (rust colors) and partly scratched with knife. Scratches on the rest of model were made with sand paper and knife. Last part of weathering was painting dirt with cloth and brush. Model was then covered with matte varnish.

Looks amazing. I wish bethesda would do a line of robot model kits like in Fallout 4 but given how overpriced their other stuff is they'd probably be 50.00 a kit. Cheaper to do what you do and the quality is better than mass produced.

I printed mine as it comes from files. Assembled model is 20 cm high. Please post photos of your finished protectron.
