Ewok build, head finished, need help with hood.

I was inspired by Andrewshaddox ewok and tried to make my own. I used pretty much the same materials. A hulk mask, a felt hat, some plastic see thru christmas ornaments for the eyes and rubber foam. It's based on Andrews ewoks but also slightly based on wicket. I'm satisfied with how the mask turned out but I'm not happy with the teeth and mouth. Looks too cartoony. My next build will resemble Wicket.

I will paint some more details in the face later. Add some highlights here and there and darken some areas.

Here is the base:

Here are the nose and some teeth:

And here is the final result:

I tried to make a hood but failed miserably. I suck at sewing. I have some fake leather but it's too stiff.
Does anyone have a template for an accurate ewok hood that I can draw out and cut out?

Thanks :) ...I've seen some templates like that but they all seem wrong. I'm trying to make a hood like wickets and it doesn't have a seam like that. It looks like it has a seam going from shoulder to shoulder over the ears and head. That one has the seam going front to back.

Thanks :)

Get a hard plastic mask and some kind of round felt hat and glue them together. Then build on it by gluing foam rubber on that. Take a pair of scissors and sculpt out a face that looks similar to a baby. Big cheeks, eyebrows etc. Buy some christmas ornaments, plastic see thru as eyes and attach them to the mask. Make the nose and lips/teeth with oven bake clay and glue them to the mask.

By using the search feature I found this excellent build thread : http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=87719&highlight=Wicket ... it may give you some ideas/pointers :)

I've seen that thread before. I got some inspiration from it. However not much about sewing the hood. I think I just need a suede material that isn't that stiff as I have fake leather that is quite heavy/stiff and not very easy to work with. I basically pulled my hair out trying to make a hood using it :p

Those pictures from the Wicket figure do help a lot however, thanks :)

Yes, looks great but this is a budget build. I made the head from faux fur from a vest I bought for 10 bucks for instance :D

I wonder if there is some kind of faux suede leather that is cheap and not stiff like the faux leather I have. I've seen faux suede material on ebay that looks good but I have no clue how it will feel in the hands.

where do you live?

Also this is a test build as I've never built anything before :p I will make another one that I will try to make look like wicket. Make a 1:1 replica :D

In sweden.

damn too far I have half of a suade pig I plan on building a wicket. would send you some scraps if you where in the USA

I made my hood with 2 skins. I didn't sew any of it. I used the leather lace to tie them together. I punched holes for the lace. Weathered it with leather dye through an airbrush.

Looks good. I need to make some kind of stand for the head like you did so I can easily measure out how to make the hood in stead of guessing and then trying it on just to find out that it doesn't work.

Your leather also looks very stiff but you managed to do it anyway.

I found some really soft fabric that has a fake leather look. I accidentally left it on the toilet at a coffee shop I was. Haha, will go and get it tomorrow. I specifically said to my self, I'm going to put it here while I pee and will not forget to take it with me, and then I forgot it :p
