Years and years ago, before I knew about the amazing world of prop and costume building.

I made my first ever prop from scratch

Ash's chainsaw hand from Evil Dead

I made the costume for the 300th show of the Evil Dead Musical in Toronto (I think it was the 300th...i cant really remember)

They had a costume contest and I wanted to enter so I made an Ash Williams costume.

My pride and joy was my chainsaw hand! the FIRST prop I ever made from scratch

The body of the chainsaw is an ordinary orange juice container I split down the middle and added a plastic runner to add the width

Most of the pieces were free and found in my step fathers amazing collection of random junk
the "air vent" is a spool for weed wacker wire
the blade is from a cheap halloween store chainsaw
my step dad even made me the awesome blade guard which makes it look so badass in my opinion

the pull cord is static and dosnt work....but that didnt stop countless people from trying it and ripping it out

the only money spend was on the coupler for end and the toggle switch on the top

The chainsaw was a huge hit at the show and manage to set it signed by the entire cast

Ive dusted it off today to give it new life. I have decided to re-do and make better my Ash Williams costume

For the chainsaw will not change much.
I will be adding the black side handle I didnt add when I first made it
and will be adding some black paint to make it look older and similar to the real chainsaw

I hope you like it :)

Groovy!

I was thinking of something similar with a laundry soap container, but doubt I'll get around to it lol.
