I know, I know there's the other thread about troopers, but people were starting to post Fx and Galactic Ninjas or whatever :p (joke).

I assume there's quite a few super nice ESB stormtrooper replicas out there ( helmet or full suits) So let's see them :love

Here's a couple of pics from me... ahhh crap where's my belt.

Thks WC for hosting.

Nice ESB 'hero' Anthony....

But tuck away the chinstrap (I don't think the Hero's had 'em?) and put 3 vertical black stripes on the grey ear-caps ;)

Nice Photo-shopped backgrounds too. :thumbsup

Cheers,
John

This by no way qualifies as a full suit...BUT here is a FiberGlass TE ESB helmet.
I believe it's the only he made in the ESB style.

Hiya John,

Yes your right, what was I thinking.
How about posting pics of your suit, as we both know it's accurate to ESB specs ;)

Is that a SFS helmet converted to ESB ??
:thumbsup

you do realise that there shouldnt be any words in this thread...

No probs... here's a pic of my (ROTJ) Stormtrooepr:

ROTJ_Stormy.jpg

Which bears a passing resemblence to this ROTJ-style trooper that was swatted by Chewie in ESB:

esbchewietroop1.jpg

Although you can't see in this pic, he also has the upside-down ROTJ style ab-plate... as well as the edging on his armour, and velcro'ed shoulder straps.
Could it be that the ROTJ Stormtrooper moulds were first created for ESB and simply not used (except for this guy)?... then 'dusted-off' 3 years later to create ROTJ trooper costumes for ROTJ?

Sounds damned weird I know, but I remember reading John Mollo's description of his HDPE ESB Stormtrooepr that was auctioned-off at Christies a few years back and he said something along the lines of 'the helmets used in ANH were khaki-coloured and painted white, whilst the Mark II helmets created for ESB were vac-formed from white plastic"
Of course we all now know that the ESB helmets were refurbished ANH helmets... but maybe Mollo's recollection was the original plan for ESB Stormtroopers, which didn't happen for whatever reason.

Considering there was a maximum of 9 Stormtroopers on screen at any one time in ESB, it may have been cheaper, quicker and easier to pull out 9 or 10 ANH costumes from storage, and pay B&N to refurbish the helmets... the handguards had to be freshly made as the old ANH rubber ones had likely disintegrated.
It might also explain why the 'background studio ROTJ' helmets have decals which are IDENTICAL to the ESB decals, plastic HOVI-Mix mic-tips etc. etc.

Sorry for the slight derailment... now lets see some more excellent ESB costumes - where's RKW?.

Cheers,
John

Beutiful troopers people :D

Here`s one I`ve just finished.I obtained the cap/back and face untrimmed from and old first run TE kit.The ears I got untrimmed from the set for stun helmet.I wanted to go for an as new delivered to the set look with just a couple of HDPE chips.I basically just threw house paint at it.It also has the bumpy cap.

I will post a thread with more pics very soon. :)

The trooper that is in the promo picture?
And the ESB suit that was sent to the people who did the suits for RotJ - a suit that was unlike any of the other suits for ESB.

It has been discussed before. Very nice. :thumbsup

(disgustingly enviously) yeah its ok i guess... :p
