Limited Run Episode VII Stormtrooper

To clarify, everything said on mic tips has been my opinion and blind guess. As an artist, I don't like them and thought that any designer on a 100 million dollar movie would come to the same conclusion. Then I remembered that it's Abrams we're talking about and that stupid decisions are kind of his M.O.

Secondly, while nothing official has been seen yet, we have had several insider leaks that have seen the helmet and they all say that there is a mic tip. I know some of these people personally and can vouch that they are not pranking us.

In summary, we have learned that there is no idea too dumb for J.J., that there are mic tips, and that I get mouthy and even dumber when I've been drinking.

That's pretty funny! I know what you're saying, but to be fair, the original helmets were asymmetric too? (Vader's and regular stormie's I mean - not overtly, but they were!)

The latch kit add-on has been available for a while now and the mic tip kit should be ready by the end of the week. I'm putting together the tutorials right now.

Here's a quick sample of the mic tip kit. It will contain the mic tip, alcove, and the 2 cheecklits. As you can see, all I have left to do is to finish the hole insert and get it molded. All the other parts are done and molded and I've been casting them as I go.

Received it just a few minutes ago. Very light weight ! I love it. And the aspect is very clean. :)

Can't wait to get news from you about the mic tip and "ears" kit now :)
 
Got my helmet last week; it's beautiful! Thanks Oz. :) I've never owned a resin helmet before, and this one has blown me away. I'm getting my friend in the 501st who paints trucks for a living help me finish it!

But back to business.... The mic kit molds are now fully complete and the final cast parts look great. Even better is that the install is wicked easy. I managed to get three of the alcoves fitted and ready to glue in a half an hour.




ATTENTION!
READ THIS BEFORE YOU START ASKING ABOUT PAYING FOR AND RECEIVING THE MIC TIPS.

Here's what's going to happen. I'm going to finish casting and installing these for the painted helmets first. Once I have enough for them, I will then start on the kit orders. You only need to PM me if you DON'T want the mic kit. Otherwise I will assume you do want it and send you an invoice when yours is ready. The price will be $26 shipped within the US. International should only be about $10 more as these will be going out in flat rate boxes.

Timetable:
I should have all the mic kits for the finished helmets cast by tomorrow.

As for kits, I can have an assistant cast these, which will speed them up enough so that I can have them all cast within the next two weeks. When yours is ready, you will be sent a flat rate invoice (prorated for international customers). If your kit has not shipped yet, then I will simply add the cost (minus $6) to your shipping total.

That should cover it but if there are any questions I haven't answered, please ask them here so that I can keep everyone on the same page.

PS. I did take pictures during the first installs and will have a tutorial up by the time the kits start shipping out.

Got the first two finished last night and I'm very happy with the results.



For the painted helmets I'm gluing the cubbyholes in with resin. Total work time from tracing out the hole to sanding off the flash was about 45 minutes for both helmets.

Nowhere on this thread does it say "Run Closed". Because that's what people do when they close a run. They put up a notice on the first post or change the title to include "Run Closed". If you didn't see that, that means it's still open.

If I sound cranky it's because every day I have about 5 different people asking me that or some similarly inane question that's already been publicly answered, often in huge, bold-faced letters.
