Limited Run Episode VII Stormtrooper

I want a kit as well. but my first question is what size head will fit in the helmet ? and what is your ETA. We have plenty of time before the premiere so i for one am in no hurry plus i need to save some money :)

There is no specific size but it is large enough to accommodate pretty much anyone. I'm an XL with 23 1/2" head and I can slip it on without plenty of room to spare.

I've got about 30 helmets on my list already and I'm doing this on the side, so it will take me about 8 weeks to get through all of these.

I just updated the first post with new pictures of both the finished helmet and the kits and also clarified some details. Hopefully this will help answer some questions.

And just to let everyone know, I do check in on the thread multiple times a day and keep track of everything, but because of my very heavy work load I don't often have the extra time to post regularly. Lastly, if you have a particular event you are planning on, please let me know in advance and I will do my best to accommodate. Otherwise you will need to be patient as I do have regular clients I have to attend to and I'm already working 7 days a week as it is. So if you're at the bottom of the list, don't be surprised if it takes 8 weeks to get to you.

Thirdly, now that we know that the lenses are much larger than I initially guessed, I'm thinking that I may go ahead and redo the bucks with the correct size. They won't fit the current helmet as is, but it's a fairly easy modification to make. I would like some feedback on that, if you want the lenses as is, or would you rather go ahead and have the larger, correct lenses in your kits? Finished ones will get them anyway, so no reason for you guys to chime in.

Paid!

i personally would go for the larger lenses if it's an option, although I may run flat lenses after the fact not sure yet.

I think its better to make any modifications to the mold now rather then later...if it means waiting a bit longer for a helmet im good with that...Rather have accuracy and quality over speed of delivery. So i say go for the correct accurate lenses

"The sculpt was intentionally designed to be upgraded with new parts as they are revealed. Certain detail parts like the temple "buckles" and the square shapes on top will be offered as add-ons to the existing helmet."

Just curious is this something you are offering now ? or are you waiting untill more details are revealed ? Are you planning to offer like an upgrade kit further down the line ?

We already know about the larger lens size and there is no point in wasting acrylic, so I might as well and send the corrected ones now.

The block shapes on top of the dome and inside the cheeks are still vague, so those will be offered as an upgrade kit. They are small parts so it will be pretty cheap.

As far as anything else goes, I'm honestly figuring this out as I go. This is a new situation for all of us so we're just going to have to play it by ear.

. I've seen some of the "reference" images with the mic tip on the left side. How would that effect this kit if it did, in fact have those?

Lets be clear on what you actually saw. You saw one early concept art picture with mic tips and one photograph of an actual helmet with no mic tips. They were in effect two completely separate helmets. Got it. Concept art. Physical object.

Now, a couple of internet goofballs see those two different helmets, confuse them for images of the same helmet, and then proceed to run around screaming that it must mean that it's an asymmetrical helmet with mic tips only on the left. Whereas anyone with any experience in design (particularly for film) looked at those same images and said "Oh, they got rid of the mic tips when they changed the design from bulbous and round to sleek and angular, because those tips would look out of place on the new chin."

So, for the umpteenth time...

I think this image from the trailer pretty much cleared up the tips/no tips debate. I'm sure it's 'possible' that there are different helmets for different forms of stormtroopers, but the base white helmets have no tips for sure.

Okay, now that I've had my fun, I can be serious and answer your question. :D I do in fact have a plan in place for that possibility. I would simply need to create and insert piece and a template. You would mark the hole using the template and then cut it out using a Dremel, glue the insert in place, and sand smooth the edges. Simple as that.

That said, I do personally think that it is very unlikely as it would just look out of place on this new, more angular helmet. It looked fine on the CG concept art because the chin was bulbous and round, but with the changed chin it would looked tacked on and awkward.

But then we are talking about Abrams; the visual genius who stuck two tiny lightsabers onto the sides of another. :facepalm So god only knows what could be lurking on the left side of that helmet.

I was thinking you could just add the mic tip as an upgrade later anyway, in the EXTREME unlikelihood that it -is- there. Wouldn't be hard to drill a hole and glue/putty/bondo in a small add on piece to hold the mic tip. I am so excited about this helmet, really love the new style and Oz you killed it! :)

I will take a kit for 150.00
if you notice in the pic on the top sides, the side part is the same part. If you look in the blue picture it is on both sides.....will these be included with the helmet?
