Enterprise Space Suit Master Found. HUGE pictures! Sorry.

Oh man that would be a shame to modify that!!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! :lol

In all seriousness the show "Enterprise" is a pretty good show and I think in years to come will gain popularity similar to TOS. What your friend has is really a part of history (that someday will be worth a fortune!).

I have to chime in and echo the 'please do not modify' comments, this is after all a part of Trek history, it would be like finding a set of original spock ears and gluing them to a goblin mask :lol Joking aside, I think perhaps coming to an arrangement with a member here who can perhaps make new molds from these so they can be preserved and replicated if there is a desire and interest, obviously this decision rests with your friend but perhaps you could suggest it to him, thank you very much for sharing the photos and the story by the way :thumbsup

If he decide to make it into another space suit, Please make him take measurements of all parts and some more pictures of it. I have wanted to make this suit eversince i saw Halo Armor could be made from paper and resin.

Yeah. I already asked him about making kits but he's really not interested. I think he's either looking to paint it up and display it or "get rid" of it.

It would be a shame to not simply pull molds of the original and modify a pull from the molds. The original item should not be destroyed.

If ANY help is needed in duplicating the items I would volunteer to do so with regard to the owners terms.

Thanks

Richie

Yeah. I don't think it's a matter of that. I've asked him...trust me. He's quite aware of it's value to others to be made into kits...probably too aware. It's valuable to him since he worked on it but I'm assuming he's wanting to get rid of it since it showed up here. He seemed nervous about me taking pictures of it but after I told him it was for reference sake, he eased up a bit. He has a ton of odd things that propmakers collect over the years.

As he stated clearly above: "I think he's either looking to paint it up and display it or "get rid" of it.

;)

Well, I'm too broke to do anything myself, but I'll ask the questions no one else has-

1. How much would he sell it for outright?

2. Barring that, how much would he charge to mold it first and sell the mold to someone?

Thanks

Guys, its obvious this guy does not want to 1. sell it, 2. recreate it.

This is obviously a professional in the industry as is postmortem. There are HUGE implications to not only job but career should original artists start letting their wares out or selling it through unlegitimate means. There are whole auction houses who own the right to sell any pieces implicated by certain shows.

Please respect this person's wishes and back off depsite the implications of losing a beautiful piece. I think its fair enough postmortem01 went back and forth already for you guys. You have your answer.

Postmortem1 was gracious enough to put up some beautiful reference of this piece to benefit people of this board. Let's not turn his goodwill action into a debauchery of pleading and bartering.

Actually postmortem said his friend may be willing to get rid of it so if he says otherwise I agree to let it drop.
Second.
Auction houses last time I looked had no rights implicit or explicit to masters.
Nobody has ever gotten MY masters,
Third, This was work for hire and he is the owner of the masters to a suit from a show long since canceled. Pretty sure there is nothing ANYWHERE that says he is required to hold on to them or only sell them through an auction house.
So, if he says hes not interested then yes, it should be dropped but this isnt the sort of bone you wave on teh RPF and think theres not going to be a Pavlovian response :)

I'd be totally happy to fund a "borrowing" of the masters to make molds, if he decides not to sell it.

Good one Matt! (I knew I forgot an option earlier! :lol)

3. How much to "rent" the masters for a month or two. :p

-Sarge

Heh. I guarantee he would never rent the masters. That's a ton of trust to place in someone you don't know. I think the two options that I spoke of earlier in the thread are the only two he is interested in.
