Enterprise Prop: Part Qui Gon Saber?

I was looking at a Mazerite Energy Weapon from Star Trek Enterprise on Ebay from It's a Wrap and boy does the top part look like part of a Qui Gon Saber. Or am I just seeing things. Anyone know what the base of the gun might be. Pic posted below.

Can that be a toy? I would think a toy would be molded in one piece, and not have a separate shroud. But this is obviously a separate shroud.

Several of the members here and around Hollywood made props for Trek.

I'm surprised this didn't happen more.

That one was brought up years ago.

I remember the phaser that was made using a deathstar playset gun... but I dont remember ever seeing this... Interested to hear more.

I saw this prop at a party years ago, along with quite a few other screen-used Trek pieces. At the time, it was painted differently, in a off-white/yellow scheme that I can only describe as "sandy". But the saber bit was still there. It does appear to be smaller than a normal Qui-gon lightsaber (the whole prop is roughly the size of an Assault Phaser), so I have no clue where the part came from (especially seeing as how it was definitely metal), but we all recognized it.

Sorry,
I was told that we had info about it.

The main gun is from the American Ultraman show we worked on back around the same time as the first season of DS9. It's only the front half of the gun and the "Qui Gon Saber " metal part is from a very short run that we did for our selfs before eps.1 can out. So it was a little small and we had a few left over. So when the propmaster from Ent. came in to the shop to discuse what props they needed. We came up with a few thrown together weapons to fill the gaps that they did not have drawings for but needed.

Hope this helped ,

Heh! I remember those! :lol I had a hunch about that part, but wasn't sure if I should ask in public or not. :$

So, which one of you bought the damn thing? Went for more than I expected.

Mike - the auction text noted that no others had metal qui-gon parts. Is that accurate? Everything else was a rubber cast of the one?

HI guys,

All of the ones we made had the metal part. I think we made 6 of them for the show. The rubbers were made at another shop.

Yep, very cool, thanks. :)

Sorry if I seemed somewhat abrupt in my earlier post, I realized after the fact that my tone may have been a bit snippy, which I didn't intend.

A very nifty prop nonetheless. :)
