I have done up some basic sketched blueprints and have a base design that I am going to use, but was interested if anyone else has done a similar project that may be able to give me a helping hand with this.

My current plan is to build a fir strip and ply wood frame then skin it with 1/8" masonite(sp?) to make the natural curves and shapes. Then use a fiber reinforced filler on seams and screw holes and sand smooth. Prime and paint.

That is awesome. Not 100% accurate as he confesses but probably more than close enough for me. It has the right look.

I would still be up for more suggestions though.

Thanks,

I have a good freind of mine that is a furniture designer and we got good contact with factory that could produce the item to a blueprint.

I asked if there was seriouse interest in this because i wanted to make a HIGH quality furanture and not just a prop. I wanted it to be working with reading light, Ipod, Speakers and storage box for electronic components. Each chair whould be arround 3500-4500 USD

But due to the price range i think people got a bit scared of.
I on my hand am seriously wondering if i shal make 2 chairs.

I am expecting a cost pr chair to be arround 6000 usd. :cry
The production cost is VERY HIGH because of low quantity order.

However before i embark any project like that i have to finish the Secret project i am working on now...
NOT Star Wars related.... But Superhero related.. :love :love :love

That sculped one looks awesome. Wonder if he could case that thing in rubber and make fiberglass versions :)

I am in the process in gathering the parts to make this chair.
I have been in touch with the maker of the inaccurate chair and have discussed a few things.
I fully intend to make this chair although mine will be more beefy than his. I really like the curved back of the movie chair.
I intend on putting speakers in it as well as overhead lighting. I intend on replacing my home office chair with this one so I will incorperate a place for my wireless mouse and keyboard as well as the remote controls that I need to function on a daily basis!.
It will take me some time to complete it because I'm reconfiguring the base and a couple of other things. I will post progress pics and the finished product when it is completed!!
