Eisen-Krieger
I've wanted to build another saber for a while now, but haven't had the funds or the time. Luckily someone had a birthday recently and ended up with some extra pocket change, so I decided to indulge myself and build another hilt. This is my first hilt that will be completely MHS parts; no camera flashed this time around, and I'm very excited to be building what I have named Eisen-Krieger. In German, Eisen-Krieger means "Iron-Warrior". I chose this name because this will be a darker saber; the blade holder and grip will be powder coated in a black chrome which I hope will give the hilt a heavier look. It will use a Red-Red-White tri-rebel, a 7.4v Li-ion 1050mAh 14650 Battery Pack, and a PC 3.0 with FoC.
Here's all of the MHS parts:

Hilt assembled before I begin customizing it:

I reduced the diameter of the ribbed section on the lathe in order to break up the "straightness" of the hilt, make it a little more interesting. It also feels really good in my hands to have the grip thinner than the rest of the body.

I've decided to use a power level indicator (PLI) in this build.

I cut this groove under the covertec knob with the lathe. I feel that it gives the hilt a bit more character. I may incorporate something like this on all of my future sabers

Powder coating begins tomorrow!

Completed Poweder Coating

I powder coated the blade holder, grip, and groove today. This was my first time powder coating anything myself, and I am incredibly pleased with how it all turned out.

I also worked on the copper "core" that will be visible through the slots in the hilt. I milled the slots for the PLI, and the activation and auxiliary switches.

I wired the power level indicator to the recharge port because the two are located right next to each other. I also wired the tri-rebel red/red/white, although I have not ordered the PC yet.

Here is a shot of the hilt now that parts of it it have been powder coated in black chrome. You can also see the copper core in this shot. I like the copper core because it makes this lightsaber seem more machine-like somehow.

The activation and auxiliary switches will be mounted in these slots. Only the activation switch is currently installed. The switches will be hidden by this black rubber mat material that I cut a strip of to fit in the slot. The grooves on the rubber sort of match the grooves on the copper core.
