eFX Reveals Stormtrooper Hero Legend Edition Helmet!

I thought this was coming.

I just did not see how they were going to vac-form these in china with any consistency or QC.

That being said the fiberglass work being done for efx in china is beautiful.

Having said that I know there will be a huge outcry on this as there wil be plenty of pissed off people!

:lol Let the outrage begin! :lol

This makes a lot of sense. You cannot vacuum form consistently, each pull is always different from the last. Sensible business decision. A shame for the hardcore fans, but we are so small in comparison with regular customers.

Joe

Just have someone checking the pulls. If its a soft or bad pull, put it in the bin. if its a good pull then use it.

I would have thought more than a small number of fans are WAY passed fiberglass trooper helmets. Maybe i'm wrong.

Keith.

A lot of people, even a lot of us, will buy the helmet even if it's fiberglass. Just take a look at the old Stunt FG Stormie helmets sold by MR. They were sold fast and then eFX did another "run" which was, as well, sold fast.

Your not wrong Keith, why not do like the vader helm? 250 legend out of abs and another run of 1000 in fiberglass for the limited line. The originals are all a little different too and thats just part of the abs experience. I'm probably going to wait for the next greatest thing in buckets to come along.

What did you guys expect? In order to get to these to the masses as well as please the fanboy population which I'm sure outnumbers us, sacrifices have to be made.

Well as a new collector and not a connoisseur of Storm trooper helmets fiberglass is preferable as it is a heavier duty material. ABS is way too fragile and I would not like such a fragile $500+ prop.

Clutch, i think we expected what we were told. That was that these were to be made not only the same way as the originals, but with the same materials. In short, these were going to be accurate replicas.

In my opinion, the largest single step backwards where accuracy is concerned with these replicas is to cast them in fiberglass.

Keith.

Wow this really disappoints me. Something I was looking forward to sooo much might as well be forgotten about.I thought the legend line was going to cater for us accuracy nuts and EFX was going to make history doing so. I understand the logistics behind it but to me it's NOT a legend if it's fiberglass.

Oh yeah, it does kind of say that in the first post. :facepalm To that I say good intentions, but the realities of mass production have come into play. I mean look at the TIE fighter and how long that has taken. Don't get me wrong, I'm as disappointed as you are, but I can't see a good outcome if they tried to do these in original materials.

EFX underestimated the public thinking not many people would buy the legend Vader, why do the same and think theres not a market for ABS? The people who would want this in glass would be happy with Master replicas old helmet, enough said.

I understand that part of the problem but surely there is some other way around this.I'd easily pay extra for the hard labour. It just like giving candy to a baby then taking it away. I'm dissapointed.

Why were the x-wing helmets fine to produce, but not the troopers?

Trimming consistency -- make a jig
Assembling consistency -- make a jig
Vac pulling consistency -- use proper bucks and vac equipment

I really don't see a problem producing these properly in ABS. I really feel, they think they will sell more at a premium and have less (after sale) complaints if it is done in a more substantial feeling material. They lose my sale (accuracy nut) with this but gain someone else like Hirohawa (non-connoisseur collector) -- so its a wash. Us accuracy nuts will have to keep waiting 'till something hits in the future -- its bound to sooner or later. This is my grail piece so I will wait or just live without one rather than get this (if it goes fiberglass).

I'd like to find out soon what they decide, so I can put the money I had budgeted for this into something else.

The efx X-Wings?

Those were "glass"

Really? My bad.
>edit -- just checked they say in the description they were abs on the EFX site, but don't say if theirs were so I am confused what the finished product is and glad I didn't buy one.<

Either way my overall point is still valid.
