eFX products update (another small update Post #52)

Re: eFX products update

Interal components are cool - but definitely not worth a huge jump in price - especially things that arent even from previous EU, but things the prop company just made up...

Re: eFX products update

Yeah I think the guts are a cool way to market the same lightsabers again, but I'll hold out until they do a ROTJ Luke version (my favorite).

I was still hoping there were be some new stuff we haven't seen in official replica form before.

Re: eFX products update

Im sure some of you know this but eFX has all the MR helmet molds well technically they were never MR's molds but Georges...so they will be producing everything MR was including E2- E3 clone helmets,Fett helmets,E3 vader etc. etc.
I am excited they would take the risk on a obscure helmet like a MQ VAder.Hopefully there will be more goodies like that.

Gentle Giant got and will be making the .45 scale Clone helmets that MR was doing near the tail end of their run.

Re: eFX products update

I really hope when they start selling their helmets they make a budget version like how don post did with the classic action line.

The blockade runner hasn't been done in licensed form before, nor the the Ralph M. version helmet.

I think there will probably be a mix of redos and new stuff, and that should be expected. Does anyone expect such a company to remain afloat making completely obscure stuff like B-wing pilot helmets and council sabers you see for a split second once everything else has been one time and one time only?

As for new stuff that could be made, I could see . . .

1. Biker Scout helmet (DP did a handful of DLXs, but they would still be in demand)
2. Vader Tie fighter
3. Vader Reveal helmet
4. Tie Intercepter
5. Gaffi Stick (and Tusken mask with a fiberglass shell for that matter)
6. Fett helmet (without the wonky T-visor, and WITH the hero ESB paintjob)
7. Fett jetpack
8. Fett ESB blaster (I prefer going ROTJ, but I'm sure some would want it)
9. Vibro axe (maybe a little obscure but I always wanted one)
10. Slave I
11. Scout Walker
12. Probe Droid
13. AT-AT driver helmet
14. Tie pilot helmet
15. Land speeder
16. Boussh helmet
17. Chewbacca bowcaster
18. X-wing helmet
19. Star Destroyer
20. Vader ROTJ FX saber
21. Kenobi ANH FX saber
22. Escape pod
23. Royal guard helmet

A decent redo of the Han in carbo would be nice to see, too. And I wouldn't mind seeing some replica grade masks in addition to the helmets.

I think there's plenty of props to mine yet, sprinkled in with reduxes of the previously done stuff. But I don't think anyone should complain on the reduxes. Look at it as a second opportunity to get some stuff you missed out the first time. If you don't want an offering, pass on it, simple as that.

What kills me is if a company DOESN'T improve on a previously offered product, people will complain that it's not worth their time. But if they DO improve on it, people complain, "Oh, great! Now I have to buy it again," or, "Wow, there goes the resale value on my old item."

Re: eFX products update

Studio scale snowspeeder would be a nice touch too, i have an MR, but was always bummed MR didnt go the extra few miles and can that 3/4 scale idea!

Re: eFX products update

FX sabers are going to hasbro, so they won't be doing those...

But as for 're-doing' things like the Obi ANH, it's got a neat twist on it. Esp. if you can't tell it does something else. In all honesty, how many times has someone seen your lightsabers and ask "Does it work?" or "Does it do anything?" With these, you can say, "Why yes it does!" :)

Plus they can fix the inaccuracies like on the Dooku saber, Vader ANH saber, this Obi ANH saber, Qui TPM saber, do a GOOD, ACCURATE Obi TPM saber, all the council sabers...and that's just one item. There's the SS stuff, blasters, helmets galore, detonators (rebels from ROTJ), comms...still quite a bit of stuff for eFx to tap :)

Re: eFX products update

The Obi with guts doesn't point toward them being likely to make good on innacuracies with the MR sabers looks more like they will go for gimmicky and flashy.

Re: eFX products update

I'm still hoping for a Chewie Bowcaster that MR were going to do, but it will be cool to get the OBI saber as well.

Re: eFX products update

That Obi reveal or cut-away needs to have detail in the whole of the grenade section - too much space there to be wasted IMHO.

Re: eFX products update

Another Update

  • studio scale" vehicles will now be known as "FX Models"
  • x-wing model will have an opening cockpit and a pilot
  • they will be doing plaques afterall
  • No eFX or LFL logos on plaque
The biggest news was about the Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber that was shown in the preview emails last week. The saber will be part of the "Extreme" line, and will be identical to LFL reference photos (including weathering) on the outside, but will open up to reveal the internals of the lightsaber with LEDs and sound!

OK I just woke up from passing out from all the good news. I dont collect sabers but I just may have too. Now to go out and find some extra work so I can afford all the goodies:lol

So, does this mean I can sue EFX for 'stealing' my break apart saber idea from like 5 years ago?

This is a pre-production photo of my personal ANH Obi from years ago:

Or does it mean I'm just ahead of my time?

You're kinda joking, right? Otherwise I think it just means your ability to differentiate is just a little bit limited. :)

It's clever but not a huge leap to think of applying the twist-lock idea of the Graflex to the Obi, and that's the only similarity, right? :)

Oh, I'm 100% kidding !

I just wanted to brag that I not only had that idea years ago, but made a saber with the twist-lock a reality.
