Efx has a new $300 Darth Vader (precision cast replica) Helmet

so that seller on ebay actually has a shop by my house so I gave them a call to inquire about the helmet and he stated that they will have them in stock on Tuesday so I will go then and check them out in person.

The one in that eBay auction pic doesn't look very good to me. Maybe it will look better in person. Looking forward to hearing your in person impression of it.

Glad I wasn't the first to say it - I ran to the Ebay listing to have a look. It's only one pic, and I'm no Vader expert, but it feels awfully 'meh' to me.

Why pay the price of a special for a standard mask?shipping is overpriced by at least $10.The website is still in limbo so how is it an ebay seller can say he has any?

I would rather pay more to buy it on fleabay with paypal's buyer protection. Not sure how confident I would be, given eFX's current challenges, that the item would ship out in a timely fashion even if my shopping cart on their site didn't say $300K+ for some bizarre reason. The fleabay one says shipped with expected delivery next Fri. I'll post pics if/when it arrives.

Ok... completely didn't know that sideshow had a thing. The eFX stormie got me... not that proud to say... into the prop replica scene... but it represents, even to this day, what I saw, not what was on the screen.

If I can get that from this prop for the right $ I will be more than satisfied. Just sayin'...

Got mine via baitme through evilBay, using PayPal credit...the only way I could afford it right now. Should see it Tuesday or Wednesday. After having a Don Post since 1978, then various Rubies, I'm stoked based on the pics. I think they did a much better job on the Vader than the Stormie.
Dunno why the eFx site has been broken for so long. I may have my replacement chest armor done by the time I get it and I'll see if I can take pics with the rest of my current Vader ensemble to see how it all goes together.

It's probably like those flimsy Anovos trooper helmets. I want something light that I can throw on a mannequin and not have to worry about the added weight.

Anovos helmets seem very flimsy when compared to the hardness of an EFX helmet. That in mind, it's actually very light, yet solid. I've trooped quite a bit with it already. You just want to pack it well, so it doesn't fold.

I hope this ANH Vader helmet is nice and light as well, but not quite as ABS "rubbery" as the TK.

I actually held onto the helmet at Wonder-Con. It's not flimsy at all. Very good weight and durable.

yup^^^^ same here they actually did a really good job on the helmet and can barley see the seam lines. I for one am really looking forward towards the 2 tone version.

This EFX Vader helmet is two toned already, I think you mean the one that looks hand brushed painted.

Actually "precision cast" means cast from a screen-used prop. eFX does smooth and throw symmetry in there, though.

I think most would agree the Stormtrooper PCR isn't very close to an original helmet. Maybe they started with scans of an original.

Obviously separating pieces into multiple pieces to allow for injection molding is a major change.

In my opinion the term PCR is misleading. The product is not directly made from a cast of original parts. There is plenty of work done to create injection molds which results in parts that are very different than the original. In the case of the Vader, it sounds like the end result looks pretty good from the outside.

The PCR line is a cheaper, lighter weight version of the helmets compared to fiberglass. The Anovos Standard line is similar.

The weight and cost difference may make these a better choice for some. Obviously the efx fiberglass Vaders are much more expensive. There are other fiberglass options that aren't as much higher though.

I think Precision Cast (PCR) is simply a title for a product, we might think it may mean more, but in fact it doesn't really. Master Replicas had their Collector's Edition symmetrical ABS Stormtrooper helmet, EFX made the exact same one in the PCR line, no changes to it at all. In the PCR line we'll have (hopefully) the Millennium Falcon model, it might have been inspired by an original studio scale, but in the end it is smaller than the screen used studio scale models, so it is just a scaled down model. Still the Vader PCR helmet is more accurate than the PCR Stormie helmet.

Yeah, PCR does not mean "cast from screen used". It's a way of making a plastic replica sound more important than it is. Kind'a like saying "Clear Wall Technician" is a fancy way of saying "Window Washer".
Don't get me wrong, I've got a number of the PCR's, & for what they are, they're nice. But they're plastic, very light weight (which isn't a bad thing, per say), & not screen accurate (& thus, not cast from screen used).
I think this Vader helmet LOOKS great, but the feel of it is going to be very light. It's not a bad thing, it's light weight. I know when little kids come by & want to wear one of my Vader helmets (eFX or MR), it's hard for them cause of, both, the weight & size. This will help.
