eFX A New Hope Darth Vader Helmet

There really is no sense of community for the Vader people.

This thread is evidence of that community. Most if not all the usual Vaderites are here, for better or worse, but that is the nature of the community. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist...but it is what we make of it.

Maybe Oujala and I would see "community" as a sense of consensus. I guess in the loosest sense of "community" we are one. We do not all get along, we follow our same scripts, we may never see eye to eye on the minutiae but yes...we are all here. LOL

Perhaps community was the wrong word, ha! Maybe unity was a better choice. I thoroughly enjoy these threads, though.

I'm still very tempted to get this thing. Looks mean!

A good analogy would be the battle of the Somme. Trench warfare, lots of noise, making it up as we go, desperately try to claim ownership of the next key hill but with hardly any to zero progress being made by any side. Oh and if you want to risk sticking your head above the parapet be prepared to have it blown off ;)

I would love to get this, when do you guys think it will be available, could it be as long as a year away.

I think probably the 3M fasteners we see on the original ANH were clear acrylic and would have been the forerunners of the "duel-lock" fasteners which came out in 1980, the only difference being the duel-lock use mushroom-shaped heads.

3M manufactured and sold the original 1960s-1970s fasteners in two colors, black and white made of either acetal or nylon...

These are period correct fasteners, same run series as the ones used on the helmet but obviously wider...

Hey guys,

Seeing as the majority of the pics of these paint masters were taken under less than perfect conditions at the con, I thought I'd share some of the pics I took of them before they were sent to San Diego. Note the correct dome positioning. :)

Hope you like them!

PS, yes of course the right tusk will ultimately have the black weathered paint. These tusks were just stand-ins delivered directly to San Diego the day of the con by a very helpful RPF member. :thumbsup

Man, those first ones look like you ripped the helmet off his head after walking aboard the blockade runner!

Sooooo..... Was the weathered dome bent flange intentional to kinda mimic your own ANH dome Flange curvarture ? Or is it like everyone suggests, Just a bad cast... Just curious, no bashing here. If so, It's kinda ironic and hard to believe EFX would be so inept as to disregard a huge flaw on the helmet on the day of its debut AND still present it thus. It may turn alot of poss. buyers off just do to the fact a nasty cast like the one shown might be actually shipped.:wacko BTW, faceplates beautiful :thumbsup

Best licensed piece I have ever seen. Will be very interesting to see it in person. Might be adding this one to the collection.

I applaud EFX for taking the risk to make a Vader helmet that is as accurate as this one is. Can't tell you how many people comment on how crappy my ANH helmet looks because of the wonkiness of it. The fact that EFX would make this option for our small, 'anal' part of the market speaks to their commitment.

Great thread about it too. Just wasted the last two hours of my work day pouring through it. While us Vader folks may not be a 'community' I truly love our dysfunctional family!

WOW! I think it looks great. You may find something it has that it shouldn't have, or something it doesn't have that it should...

But you gotta admit... That is the nicest looking best attempt at SA liscensed helmet ever made!

It is neither ironic, nor hard to believe. Man, these are prototypes. Look at the idealized dome. Bad pulls happen.
