Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

ha!
I wish. He wants to save up our money so we can move back to Illinois.
We went to a waterslide while visiting there last weekend :love it was awesome.

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

unfortunately, they are the ones with the big 1:1 full figure licenses. Museum Repicas have the 1:1 wearable costume licenses. Lame all the way around in my opinion. Better than Rubies, Better than Don Post, but lame. If eFx would step it up and create a museum quality costume prop license we might start seeing something good. :)

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Yes, a shame that the non-caring companies has the best licenses. Sure, it would be cool if eFX came out with a bust - helmet & armor - like we've seen on some people's displays and what I'm planning on doing with mine... when I finally get to that.

But anyway... really strange that Sideshow are so pigheaded about getting things right.

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Altough i quite liked Sideshow's 1:1 Vader reveal, the utter crapness of the dome, including that horrible centre ridge, always put me off.....

Yep, they accept no outside constructive criticism.

I heard once that someone had asked sideshow about using scans in order to get things correct and they actually got offended and snottily said "Absolutely not, we sculpt everything ourselves!"

you're absolutely right that they don't take criticism. Whenever they debut a prototype for one of their 1:6th figures people nearly always make comments and sideshow's response ranges from the common ignoring of the comments to the ocassional statement that essentially they know what they're doing.
Compare that to HotToys who accept criticism and will often refine their work before release (typically resulting in a more accurate sculpt) and it's easy to see who cares about their customers.
Oh yeah and now Sideshow has decided that they're up to HotToy's level and started charging accordingly.. it's laughable.

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Well, I only EVER bought certain items from Sideshow. If it wasn't high on my list of priorities, it didn't get bought OR I'd buy it from a secondary retailer later on for MUCH less.
In fact, I've only bought one FROM sideshow (Connor MacLeod) and I just preordered their 1:6th Yoda. The rest, I've bought for $30.00 or less with the one exception being Indy who I bought for $45.00 through a secondary retailer. :lol

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Though they have improved greatly with their head sculpts, they still use the standard body instead of a custom one and their paint jobs are mediocre. Everything Hot Toys does, as far as I can tell is 100% custom to that one figure and their sculpts, body types and paint jobs are beyond what you'd expect from a toy, making them more collectibles, whereas Sideshow's still look like playdolls.
