eastcoastcostime Jedi Boots - Wearable?

Found these through a link on a Han Solo cosplay page - has anyone purchased a pair? I'm looking for something for 'occasional everyday wear' and I'm wondering if these things could pass for leather, or if they just look like cheaper Halloween store/costume pieces?

In a pinch they will be OK. Not for long term use. I would get some Dr. Soles imserts for padding, otherwise you will get blisters if you walk in them alot.

Cool. I want some riding-style boots to wear out occasionally, and I don't want to be laughed out the shop for wearing wellington-type costume shoes. Do you think these are credible enough?
The alternatives all seem to be two or three times more expensive.

I hope these are quality, cuz I just impulse-bought a pair of the black ones. Haha.

If you search around the board, you will find a gazillion posts about these boots. They ARE very cheap, in every way - they come in generic S, M and L sizes (not numerical sizing), the pleather is thin, the quality is spotty, the sole and heel are glued on, not sewn or nailed, the zippers frequently fail, etc etc. They are definitely COSTUME shoes, best suited for a few low-stress uses. They are really Halloween boots.

That being said, I use them for STAR TREK TOS boots, and for that they're fine, as they don't get much abuse. I would also recommend sole inserts - they are not very comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

They are a little short for Solo boots, although I know many people use them for that.

My two cents.

That's what I plan to use them for. I'll be sure to take pictures when I get them and give a full review. I don't plan on wearing them except when in costume, so they should hold up fine.

that store is right down the street from my house :)

the boots are cheap vinyl, bad soles, and tear easily. that being said, they are very, very cheap, so for low usage they are ok.

do a 3-4 mile parade in them and you'll probably be getting new ones.

I bought a pair of these and modded them for Halloween one year. They worked just fine for me. They didn't look bad either. I do however, seem to recall the sizes ran a bit small... and no, I wouldn't wear them to walk for miles in.

"A bit small" is an understatement. I bought a pair quite a few years ago to use with a Jedi costume I was putting together. Before placing my order I contacted them for advice on which size to order--I wear size 10.5 US in most shoes and boots, and they advised me to order "medium" which, according to them, is a "true 11". I couldn't put either foot into them, they were so small, so I sent 'em back.

As far as quality, they're not even worth what they're asking for them. I suggest you save your money and get a quality pair of real boots that will give you years of pleasure instead of throwing your money away on these crap boots that will give you hours of misery.

Well, if what you just said about sizing is true, I'm gonna be exchanging mine immediately. I wear an 11.5 and ordered the 10-11 based on their sizing chart, which showed them to be considerably larger than an 11. May have to trade those in. But that won't be all bad, larger size means taller boots.

What is their policy on exchanges? Do they at least pay shipping for the new pair? Do they charge a restocking fee?

OK, so I got the boots in the mail today, lightning fast shipping all the way across the US. As I said I wear an 11.5, sometimes an 11.5W, and the Medium 10-11 fit me just fine. They're made with plenty of extra room width wise, I'm probably going to get some Dr. Scholls just to fill the boot out because the foot part is too tall and folds up a bit otherwise. As far as height is concerned, they measure 17 inches from floor to the tops of the boot, heel included. They're a tiny bit short for Solo boots, but not enough for me to care. The zipper down the inside is also inaccurate for Solo boots, but once again I don't care. They do feel a bit flimsy, but not as bad as I was expecting. All in all I think they're great for the money, as I'd never even consider spending $400 on a pair of boots I'll wear maybe once a year. I do have this to say though, don't buy them from that site. They're the exact same boots as all the "Captain-100" boots on Amazon, and the same price, but the shipping from that site was $15 while one of the sellers on Amazon is probably much lower.

This makes me wonder if the boots I received were simply mislabeled with regards to size.

You sound pleased with your purchase, so I'm glad it worked out for you!

Its totally possible, I didn't see any size indicators except the sticker on the bottom, which could easily get mixed up. I've got them stuffed full of shirts right now and I'm going to leave them for a few days (or weeks) to get them to hold their shape and get all the creases out.

Definite;y get the cushioned Dr. Scholls. Your feet will thank you. I wore mine all day at CIII and got blisters. Once I got the inserts, no problems.

Get the Green and Brown ones too. They're the firmest and last the longest. They have for me anyways.
