EA-6A Intruder

Hey gang,

This is Revell's re-release of the EA-6A Intruder, in 1/48th. I love the A-6, but the only 1/48th kits can be found only on ebay for an arm and a leg. The Wild Weasel is a very good close enough, for now.

After building and staring at her, it was missing something...missing character. She was screaming to be dirty, so that's what I did.

Here's an in-production, post-paint, but pre-weathering

And here she is weatherd and looking bad-ass

As always, questions and constructive criticisms are welcome.

Enjoy,

Wow. If you did a full rescribe to that kit, then you did a crapload of work to that thing! Nice result though. I've been lucky enough to get my paws on one of the Revell A-6Es in addition to the EA-6A. I plan to do them one day when I am in the mood, but they can't be rushed and have to be savored. ;)

Wow - thanks, everyone :$

Rikarus - considering the source, that compliment means a lot :)

Rob - did "Cool Hand" drive a weasel or was it a regular A-6E? I haven't seen that movie in ages, so I don't remember.

Jay - no rescribe done on this. It's got a strange mix of recessed and raised panel lines. Moving surfaces have recessed lines (flaps, front slats, rudder), but surface panels have raised lines.

Either way, she builds up nice.

coolhand drove an A6-a (no E's flew over vietnam) and an A6-b weasel for one iron hand mission in the original book.

Beautiful work on the Intruder, the weathering looks great! Years ago I built an EA-6B, but it was mostly destroyed in various moves from house to house. :( Maybe it's time to think about another.

Thanks, Dean :cool

I believe Kinetic Models, just released an all new EA-6B in 1/48. Reviews on it seem pretty good.

Hey, I thought you were going to show us pics of your model. I think you accidentaly posted some pics of a full scale plane! :)
