e3 2014 mass effect 4 trailer

EA has an E3 Behind the Scenes trailer with actual new stuff in it!

Things of interest.
  • A new Normandy like ship called the 'Tempest'.
  • THERE WILL BE ASARI! YAY!!
  • Krogan's will drop humans off of cliffs.
  • Is that the player character waking up, or someone else?

The Tempest looks like they just made the Normandy bigger. Looking at all those screens and touch screen junk the artists are using makes me glad I quit art school for computer animation and game making. Too much tech. The game looks good but it's the storyline and people in charge that I'm worried about, they won back people after the mess with Dragon Age but they are going to have a really tough time getting the ME people back on board especially if they shoehorn in pvp again. I'm honestly looking forward to the new star ocean more than this, star ocean always feels more like the original Mass Effect to me.

If they bring back large maps to go exploring in the Mako again, as a mandatory, they would've won back some brownie points for me. That, along with the elevator rides that lead to different sectors of any map, really created that large universe that ME existed in before the sequel neutered itself.

But...I want to see new aliens, dammit! I get it, a ship carrying the species of the old games, great; I'm in a new galaxy now. Gimme NEW!

I think a lot of people were not fond of the end of the last series but the series overall was good enough most people will jump aboard pretty quickly :)

Last I heard at least one of the 2 people who drove ME3 into the ground by locking out the writers and staff to be shills for EA left. If not either of them being involved could keep people a way, I know Destiny 2 is already in trouble for putting a staff member in charge who talked down to gamers and is seen as a liability by fans.

Interview with Mac Walters.

Notes of interest.

  • The story is going to be more gray than the previous games since the original trilogy focused on you stopping the evil Reapers.
  • The female character waking up at the end of the trailer IS the protagonist. Last name Ryder, first name _______.
  • There will be a Ryder family. Here's hoping they tie it in better than they tied in Shepard's spacer family in the subsequent games. I miss Shepard's mom. :(
  • Mako will be the only vehicle. No Hammerhead. :(
  • Polish, polish, polish.

Crap one of the idiots behind Me3 is working on this one, looks like i'll buy it used as to not support his employment. He's also the one behind all the terrible novels that they put out after they fired Drew. They're pretty much ignoring the end of ME3 totally and the universe just magically keeps going.

Considering they threw out the original script for it throwing out all the endings makes sense. Sadly gamers are so fickle these days folks will love it just because it's shiny.

One of the designers pretty much said at E3 that they went to another galaxy to avoid flak from fans over the ME3 ending. So basically it was a giant dodge. The game might be great, but I would have rather seen the results of ME3. They could even have skipped 10-20 years ahead so the Citadel and relays were fixed. Of course they would have to make one of the endings canon though.

Hate to tell them they're still going to get crap over ME3 and them dodging the storyline and honestly that other galaxy would have had Reapers in it too, it's not like they were just in the Milky way as far as i know. I bet the real ending is somewhere between where the reapers leave, everything is fixed, and Shephard is an admiral having survived.

Here's how I see it. BioWare took a great cut of filet mignon and cooked it extra well done. Now this potentially delicious meal has more in common with a plate full of charcoal. That's the state that Mass Effect 3 left the franchise in. For EA, it decision regarding where to move forward was simple. Do we try and eat whatever volcanic rock came out of the stove, or do we order something different and tell the staff to dial down on the temperature?

They definitely will still get crap and so they should. It's not like the only issue with ME3 is its ending.

Reapers are only present in the Milky Way. Since they are "asleep" waiting in dark space, the space between galaxies. The nearest galaxy(disregarding dwarf galaxies) is Andromeda. Which is located 2.5 MILLION lightyears away from us. Meaning going there at the speed of light(which is impossible) takes two and a half million years.

Even if they could travel FTL, faster than light then why would they build the relays and rely on them?

And thus the ME universe disappears in a puff of logic...

...But I think in the trailer they show the crew waking from cryo-sleep. I suppose after 2.5+ million years.:lol

I wouldn't be surprised if the game does take place during and after ME3 so they have no idea how the last game ended, for all they know mankind is gone now. Oddly enough the fact that the reapers are only in one area is a failure in their logic as they were supposed to deal with all intelligent life, you'd think they'd be building an army with universal conquest on their mind. Apparently they also replaced the perfectly fine paragon/renegade system with something new. The more i hear the less interested I am.
