Dying cheesecloth specific colors?

Sorry if this isn't the right board to ask this on, still getting used to the site. If its not close it or move it, and I won't do it again.

So im building my first costume, nothing too hard or anything. Just a simple cosplay of The Question from DC comics.
I've already got everything I need, and even basically finished the frame for the faceless mask.
Its just, I have no idea how to dye it a flesh-toned color.

I have never really worked with anything like dyes or anything before.

So I just need some help on what kind of paint or dye to use.
I heard that Acrylic paint works well, but I honestly have no idea on how to do it.

I just need to dye the cheesecloth a flesh color for the mask. And I don't need it to be 100% exactly like my skin tone considering my costume will cover 98% of my body. So can anyone give me any tips on dyes or paints? And what colors I should use?

First - is the cheesecloth 100% cotton or a blend? Cotton dyes beautifully, a blend will not dye as well. Look for 100% cotton cheesecloth.
For cotton, I use Dharma Trading's Procion Dyes Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes. That site has excellent information about dyeing fabrics as well.

You might consider the Ivory or Ecru. You will not need much of either color - as I remember, the instructions recommend only a 1/3 of the usual dye amount for Ivory.

Thanks for the help. I bought the cheesecloth weeks ago so I can't remember if it was cotton or a blend.
And I didn't see your post till after I bought some light brown Acrylic paints.

But I finished it yesterday. Just got to finish glueing the rest of it on the wire frame I created for my face.

I think it turned out well. Its a fairly light peachy color, so its not perfect, but its not bad. My friend who actually does make costumes and accesssories(this was my frist ever attempt at anything like this)actually said it looks pretty damn great for a first attempt.
If Free comic book day wasn't less then 24 hours away, and I didn't have school and work tonight. I'd go buy more materials and different paints/dyes and see if I can't improve it. But for now I think its good enough for free comic book day.
