Dungbeetle Pepakura helmet help

Hey guys,

I am new to the forums. For the Iron man 2 Premiere I made a prop Iron Man helmet from Pepakura thanks to Dungbeetle. The problem with my helmet is that on the back there are 3 segments. When I place the third segment I could not get my head into the helmet. Then if I were to remove the third segment my head would fit but the helmet would be loose. I thought I followed all the directions correctly. Can anyone help me?

I'm not really sure which edition you Pep'd (v1 or 2.3) but in my experience thusfar with the Pepakura helms in general you're going to have to pad the inside. The Pep files (especially DBs) are based on the screen used helms, which if you watch the parts of the film where the faceplate is off is a bit bigger than RDJ's actual head.

I'd recommend looking around the forums. There's a number of people who've done self-sculpted and pep helms that have managed some pretty elegant solutions to the undercut of the skull portion of the helm (which is what I'm guessing you're talking about.) Personal fave being the hinge system. I'm planning to try a series of rare earth magnets at each side for my own final build.
Whatever you end up doing, best of luck.
*salute*

Almost forgot.
You're also going to want to keep in mind that some of your space will get eaten away after you've resined and fiberglassed the inside and outside of the helm. That+padded lining is why a number of FAQs on Pep builds recommend allowing some extra space in the armor/helm.

Or you could always consult the source directly.
