I have to admit, that looks pretty good though I suspect the project box is plastic as opposed to metal. Not really a problem as that's a pretty easy fix.

Also it looks quite a lot like the old CaptJTK kit, which I have... the Microgramma (Eurostile) typeface, which is wrong, plus the too-large faceplate markings (circle and triagle)...

Also note how they changed the way the faceplate attaches. Looks like you won't be able to do a straight swap for a metal project box, without some mods. Maybe the electronic guts are something you can transplant...

This isn't your JJ Trek. This is our Trek! If our Trek was really dead, we'd be seeing a lot more of those crummy toys from Trek09. But guess what? Those toys SUCKED. They sucked so much that they canceled everything that came after it. And their last ditch effort to make a toy based on the props was without a doubt the worst Star Trek toy in existence!

I'm going to get two of these babies because it's that awesome.

Two thoughts:

I love that they have a dedicated setting for nothing but KHAAAAAAAAAAANNN! :lol Pure camp.

And do they have the audio for the entire film on that thing? Holy hannah.

What's funny about some of those voices is that some of the Kirk ones were done with the Wrist Communicator, such as when he is talking with Khan. :lol

Looks like painted plastic to me.

It looks like they've got screws on the control plate, should be easy enough to pull a part and paint the led's red. Other than that it looks pretty good.
