Did you replace the emiter nozzel with metal?
I was going to use an aluminum one but didn't want it to be too heavy on my belt and test the velcro! I used a chrome tip from a 23rd century pistol kit ( thanks Roy ) seems to look the part!
Thanks guys!.....I was going to go the water pistol route but they are kind of hard to come by and I didn't want to mess with the trigger!!! LOL
amazing what just a little paint does for these......doing another tonight and next comes the comm......then a tricorder! the wife and I will have a full set of landing party gear for Halloween! ; )

Very impressed with the chome bezel for the emitter array.
Not so sure about the colour chosen for the type 1 phaser, wasn't it definately black in the show?
I know the handles have been known to change colours frequently
Looks fantastic, great idea with the velcro. I intend to mod my DS TOS phaser with a magnet in the body and create a thin metal patch for my pocket that the phaser can attach to.
Keep up the fantastic work - and get yourself some gloves!!

Gloves :lol yes indeed!! the phaser one is actually a very dark Gray.....almost black but for some reason it really lightens up with the flash! but it is almost black! the first photo is more true to life as far as color.

I'm hoping to upgrade my PM tos phaser with the blue ray laser, so it fires a blue beam that is visible in daylight and can pop balloons! But I'll rig it up to a DS sound chip, the PM ones are terrible.
these are for costuming only....I will at some point try my hand at the laser thing....that would be so cool! no party would be save....all balloons mus die! LOL My kids would hate me!!:lol

Just google "blue ray laser phaser" it'll have everything you need to know, its actually quite a simple and cheap modification to make.
I can't wait to take my BRLP to its first convention, where balloons will be present, and people say "nice phaser" and I go "yeah. see those balloons over there?" hhahahaha
Props are looking fantastic mate, keep up the good work.

Nice work. I remember doing Halloween with the Remco exploration set, a toy version based on the AMT kit. Same molds but the parts were screwed together, with raised chrome plated letters on the side of the phaser that said "Star Trek". The DST set is a big upgrade from those days.
The DST may sound cleaner, but the PM is taken from the original sound recording and is more authentic. The PM is also a smaller board so would be easier to retro fit in another phaser. The PM Capt. Pike laser has the same sound but on an even smaller board, as the trigger button is separate.
Sorry for the derail, please carry on with the Halloween upgrades
