Drive (2011)

Because Refn is bizarre. I think he just wanted to use a word that isn't often used for special edition.

BTW. To address someone's comment on driving backwards.

It is actually a tactic used by police to nudge the back of a suspect vehicle during a chase. Because the steering takes place at the front of the vehicle, nudging the back can cause the vehicle to spin out. Driver reverses to avoid being spun out of control and to disorient the other driver.

Ah avoiding The PIT maneuver huh

Thanks! I didn't know the term. I just wikipedia'd that and it says one of the ways to regain control is by making a J turn, exactly what Driver did.

I picked up the UK Blu ray today. The special features are for a better word... Lackluster. The only good feature is the BFI Q&A with Refn which lasts 40 minutes. the other features are stills gallery, Theatrical trailer and TV Spot. That's it.

This Queen edition cannot come out soon enough! However the blu ray quality is absolutely spectacular, definitely one of the best Blu rays i've seen.

Well that sucks! though I suspected that may be the case. Oh well at least there is something extra to look at until more comes along.

Saw a 35mm print of Drive at The Byrd theater in Richmond a month ago.

One of the last "movie palaces" ever built. A monument to film it is.

Anybody pick it up on Blu-Ray/DVD today?

The cover art for the home video release is terrible.
Why didn't they use this...?

I guess the new art makes it look much more fast paced... and probably might sell more because of that. Whereas, the original poster art kind symbolizes the flick better for me (and highlights Gosling for the ladies).

I still would have preferred this one. It is so iconic.
It's definitely iconic with that movie star 50s big Hollywood feel. I like the the one I posted (obviously), just because I think it represents the movie very well... we get Ryan Gosling and he's staring :confused.

Either are better than what's on the cover now.

Yeah, I think I prefer the white poster because it looks more unique. The one you posted is cool and matches the color palette of the film but still looks misleading (like it's a straight up action film).

Ultimately, everyone can agree that whoever put the scorpion on the front is an idiot.

Oh cool!

too bad my copy is dvd....

Dorian, your posts look cooler and cooler. Nice sig :thumbsup
