Dragon Con Scarlet Spider Build

Ok, so we are a few months away from Dragon Con. Last year was my first year, and I noticed that all of the Marvel/DC folks have the MOST fun since there are tons of group shoots to get in on. I went with my Ghostbusters group last year, and went as The Green Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 2 of the days. I lost 50 lbs in order to look awesome in spandex, and now I want to do a spiderman build... but I decided that my favorite of the designs is reilly's Scarlet Spider.

I have a basic idea of how to put this together, but after several hours of searching the forums my head is pounding with questions.

1. I'm leaning towards a suit with muscles printed on. I've seen people using morph suits and such, but I would like to go with a more gritty look. I have no experience sewing spandex so I'd rather have something made or find something premade that can be modified easily. I also don't want to spend a ton of money on the suit.

2. Where are you guys finding the ankle patches?

Which Scarlet Spider design are you going for? I personally would love to make the new suit, but first I'd have to lose about 45 pounds and thats just not happening, lol. But I can always just make an Agent Venom suit (which I intend to do sometime soon).

I downloaded the free TASM spiderman pattern by kenlandrum and modified it. I don't know how people would feel about the bricks on a scarlet spider, and I'm not sure how to make them all one "color" since they seem to be multitoned on the TASM suit. Here's what I've done so far.. nothing fancy.. just changed everything that was blue to red. I want to do a very gritty, grungy version of this character.

I know zentaizentai stole a TASM pattern from a member here, or someone sent it to them or something and they kept using it after the fact. Is this one also stolen?
