Dr satan's robot

Hi guys!
I am thinking of attempting a build of the classic serial robot as seen in UNDERSEA KINGDOM (1936), MYSTERIOUS DR SATAN (1940) and ZOMBIES OF THE STRATOSPHERE (1952). I need good tips and advice on building this.
Please note: I am not experienced with metal work and welding so that won't be an option.

It looks like a great project. Are you going to make it life-sized, or downscale it?

They replicated this robot very well in the Star Trek Voyager series with the holoprogram of Captain Proton and his arch nemesis Chaotica, episodes.

I would imagine I'd start with bendable aluminum sheets, rivets and dryer vent tubing. There has to be some REAL experts for this on the forum though.

Such a strange, cool title! Doctor, Satan, and Robot. Now this, this deserves a modern, re-do with modern technology! Make this Hollywood, not re-makes from movies released in the last two decades.

Good luck with this project!

That is Awesome! You don't see to many props from the really old stuff. LOVE IT! :love

Avolow.

Well I was thinking of making it lifesize as I intend to go inside it.

Hmmm...
The foam sheet method would be cheap, quick and make for a flexible, lightweight costume. Basic tube, maybe a couple of layers to reinforce it.

Dryer / vent hose for arms & legs, wrapped in silver metallic fabric. Or spraypaint.

Foam sheet boot covers.

Googly eyes (with the pupils removed) for rivets.

Or a light wood frame built off of a metal backpack frame with a plastic skin - a-la Artoo builds), and one of those shallow bird feeder dome for the top.

Coz.

This is also known as the Republic Robot. I've been meaning to build one myself one day.

Here are the images in my files for this cool robot!

I would absolutely go full scale! :) There are a lot of wraps you could look into that have a reflective/chrome/steel finish. If you started with a large tube... you should be able to wrap it?

Also, chrome, gold and bronze spray paints have a LONG way in the last few years.
