Dr. Doom pep files Unfolded by BSD

I know Doom has a tunic on but he has an armored torso as well, are you planning on pepping that as well? I love your files BTW:)

I mainly made these for a friend... I would need more pics of his chest armor in order to make a pep file for it.. Post as many pics of the chest that you can and I will work on it when I get a chance.

As per BSD's request, here's the story of Dr. Doom's thighs.

I had made the thighs from the files, without changing the scale, because I measured the height of mine compared to the one in the file and found them to be perfect fit for me. ( Just like the rest of the files )

Then I reached to work on the shin... As I was almost done with the piece, I wanted to try it on ( I was excited about it! ) then it was obvious that Dr. Doom's legs were definitely smaller than mine (both in height and width) . I had to increase the scale on that file to be able to fit, so it's fixed there.

But with the thigh, if I had increased the scale it would made the height bigger which already was at the right size for me, so I improvised based on something I saw on Tastyburger's thread.

He basically added a strip of cardstock to his helmet so it could fit him.

I went adding cardstock strips until the piece could fit around my thigh without giving any problems. It's a simple solution and despite adding 9 cm to the piece it doesn't changes the shape as much.

The cardstock I added is the yellow colored one.

Everyone has to consider that the models extracted from games aren't anatomically correct even if they might seem so, at least in Dr. Doom's case, his shins are smaller than they should be. - So be sure to measure the pieces before printing, even though the pieces before that fit at the same scale, it could save you some time! (Or a lot of time depending on the difficulty of the piece.)

Another thing that could be an issue:
If you scale up the size of the shin in Pepakura based on the diameter of your shin, it could distort/enlarge the rest of the build in a way that makes it equally unwearable. I think using the card stock was the wisest choice. On arm/leg builds, I would think adding to the interior surface where there is little need for detail (because no one will really see it)
The filler work will take care of hiding everything.

Looking good so far! Keep rollin'!

sorry guys im a noob at this and am giving dr doom first crack. im not quite sure how to manipulate size in pepakura designer to make sure it will fit. if any one has any suggestions on where to find out to save me some digging it would be much appreciated.

sweet, thanks! great videos. i am getting all my supplies to start my doom build as well as my halo armor build. the halo armor is going to be tricky bc its not a basic master chief, it is the armor that i use for war games, and it gets more convoluted. i am using armors set from both halo reach and 4. i was also curious what people felt was the best medium to use, card stock, cardboard or foam. any input would be greatly appreciated.

For armor i say foam.. But you have to mod the files unless they say they are foam files.. These files are not moded for foam.. Cardstock is what i use for all helmets.

hey i appreciate all the input. its a huge help. due to time and money restraints for my first one i am going to use foam. i have the face plate all put together and am looking to seal it, most of the videos i have seen reference a polyurethane resin after pvt (white glue) but i cant seem to get it any where in the us, is this something i have to order? and what is the major difference between that and the fiber glassing resin?

Awesome looking files. I can't wait to start on this build. You said you had the file from Marvel vs capcom 3 right? Is there any way you could commission a UDON Taskmaster for me? Its taskmasters alternate costume in the game.

I can not stress how awesome you are for this. thanks a butt ton man, i was on the ropes about how i would accomplish my doom armor and you give me a godsend. im gonna go bake you cookies now...like a man, yeah!

sorry for the double post but are there files for the hands? i would love to have some pieces to add to gloves for a complete look. if not are there any hand armor peps you could suggest or link me to?
