My Sidkit is an unplated pewter version, painted in automotive semi-gloss black.
The picture of the two partially assembled Sidkits is from my collection thread.

I had two of the phillipes resin and one QMx resin,

and I have sold all but the Sidkit number 012.
I had some build tips and info in the thread, and my friend's came out like this

which is gold rub-and-buff over the semi-gloss black, sealed under a clearcoat.

but I haven't achieved a finish I like yet (and I haven't messed with it in a couple of years.)

I like my Sidkit and it is a great display gun.
I wouldn't recommend such an expensive purchase being used as a holster gun.
The thumbscrews will break off if glued on;
they will damage the soft pewter shrouds if attached with set screws as I did.
The Sidkit has the weight, feel and look that a metal Mal pistol should have!

The 47 and 47A weren't brown, they were blackened brass, depending on lighting wear and such they can look black or brown.

I don't think I have any direct side shots, those were taken by a photographer at an even I go to. The one you are talking about is the 47A which I aged and added patina to specifically to try to mimic the photos of the hero gun in the Firefly Companion book.

That is just the most awesome collection , I think I have ever seen with the Mal pistol.....WOW..:cool...the 4th Mal pistol color , is what I am seeking for the Serenity version.......:D

I agree gentleman , the pictures are fantastic to show the differences and color variances , I think too dark , is definitely too much for details to be shown , a medium base brass and brown would be the best way to go , IMO....the brown doesn't need to cover up the brass edges...so the copper can for sure be seen .....;) ...:)....:D

Come on guys we need a name for the Moses Brothers Self-Defense Engine Frontier Model B. I wanna call it something just tired of saying Mals gun or the Firefly/Serenity...

Just call it "Siderio's Legacy Model" or some such if it must have a name. Don't try to make associations with the 47 or other fan-made models because it will just make things confusing in the long run.

I have asked but I assume you missed it.

The safety lever. I assume it moves as it did on the Sid Kit???

Also what about the slide piece that connect to the rear site???

It would be awesome to see a pic of the kit in pieces.

I think he means , at the top of the real hero version the gun sight had the ability to slide back and forwards to lock in , just a feature of the real gun prop.....it was on youtube , a while back I seen it , pretty cool , but not necessary....the whole top slide back with sight slide back.....wouldn't worry about that , that's the way , the gun was originally made... FOR THE MOVIE....that's my guess , of what he is referring too !!!

If you don't offer it like that, I do plan to modify mine to slide. If you'd like, I have pictures of how the mechanism worked on the gun I was building.

Any word on whether or not the hammer can be added to the Firefly version?

Guys the upper slide bar can't move, sorry but we can't change the molds.For your happiness trigger will be made for the firefly version too
