Tom - you just prompted me to go onto Amazon and buy the Lucas Archive book. No idea why I took so long to do that! [emoji3]

That book is a must have for Indy and / or Star Wars fans. I have two of these: a mint hardcover copy with dust jacket, to keep on the bookshelf, and a paperback version I use as my prop reference book. I look at it so much that it's impossible to prevent some wear on the cover.

Paintjob looks great! Something between what's seen in the LucasFilm Archives book and what's seen on-screen. Don't know what filters were used when shooting the pictures in the book, or shooting the movie, but the colors of the book and the urn seen in the movie do not match 100%. This paintjob seems to be a nice inbetween. Perfect!

I saw two urns at the Archives a couple of weeks back Tom. One of them was quite a bit darker overall and the other looked very similar to this new one by Sarednab. In truth the shelving casts them in shadow so I couldn't tell you how accurate this is but I agree generally with your comment, its a great combination version which is as far as I can gather the correct size (Mark Poon's version - which I have - is slightly small).

Once I receive mine, I'll do some side-by-side shots with Azuma's Urn. I don't have markpoons version, since I liked Azuma's version better back then...

Have you contacted the first sixteen on the list sarednab? I hope i'm one of them ;)
If not, next month it is, can't wait to see one in front of me.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a photograph of the second (lighter) urn and I regrettably cannot share the other photo's I took at the archives but here is a close-up zoom of the darker Urn I mentioned above.

Interesting to see how much the different props vary in color... Personally I don't like this dark color scheme. I'm very happy with the paintjob on the Sarednab's pictures...

You're from Australia. So you go back and forth to the US now and then to visit The Archives? ;) For me it's way too far to travel, but if I lived nearby, what should I have to do to visit this? Just wondering...

I work for Lucasfilm Tom and have done so for nearly a quarter of a century now.
It is a very long way from Australia but sometimes I go to San Francisco just for a weekend - if I need to attend something to do work commitments.

Unfortunately its not possible to anybody simply to visit Lucasfilm - with the exception (sometimes) of the main reception at the Lucasfilm Head Office at the Letterman centre - unless you work there. Skywalker Ranch is even more difficult - especially now that it is no longer part of Lucasfilm because its George's personal property. As for the archives, that is even more difficult still. Even guys who've worked there for many years are generally not permitted inside so its fair to say that I am very privileged to be given the freedom I've enjoyed over the years.

Wow, indeed you're very priviliged in that case. Didn't know you worked for Lucasfilm. That's cool. So you work with props etc. there, or is it something completely different you do there? (Sorry for the questions, just so curious now ;) ).

At the town I work, there is a guy that worked for Newline cinema years ago (he is retired now). He was a propmaker there and also worken on the Freddy Krueger gloves... I was so happy he agreed to made me a glove for a very nice price. I picked it up at his home, and this is a sanctuary... His completele house is full of pictures of him with horror actors, autographs, even some screen used props. His working room is full of masks, gloves, etc... not only Newline cinema stuff, but also other franchises. He just can't stop making this stuff... and he's VERY good in it!

Wow Mark, sounds like a dream job to me. I'd likely guess that you sometimes work with props. Your results with weathering some props on here would suggest this. :cool

By the way, in what part of Oz do you reside, i'm in Sydney's south.

Cheers fella's. I don't under any circumstances want hijack Sarednab's terrific thread here so I will answer briefly.

Raiders March mate, I am based in Perth - thanks for asking.
Although I have created many props in the past, I'm primarily an animator by trade. Although I don't animate any longer (retired in 1999) these days I continue to work - when time allows - for Lucasfilm,Disney and other studios as an illustrator and I've been very lucky to have been asked to work on both the Indiana Jones and Star Wars franchises.

Probably my most recognisable work is the lobby poster I did for Raiders of the Lost Ark IMAX and I'm luckier still because George has purchased around 7 or 8 original artworks from me - for his personal collection.

Thanks again gents, if you're vaguely interested there is more info here: www.markraats.com.

My sincerest apologies Sarednab mate.
Let get this thread back on track.. :D

Kind regards
MARK
