Don Post Deluxe Vader #73

I finally managed to remove all the the paint from the faceplate and now I'm sharpening details on it.
I used something called Langlow Safe stripper - still took a long time and a huge amount of work though...
I've discovered two things in the process. First of all the sensors are reinforced with house house nails - they were put in the mould before the helmet was laminated. I suspect this is why those particular parts look so crap.
More importantly I peeled off a small piece of masking tape in the faceplate - underneath it has the number of the helmet - 73. However underneath the brass plaque inside the dome the helmet is marked as 35.
This basically means that Don Post just mismatched domes and faceplates as they went along ...

That's a very interesting find, that's the first I have ever heard of that.
