Don Post CA Vader

hey guys, I have a repainted Vader Classic Action helmet I got about 10 years ago. A couple years back I had it repainted by a local motorcycle painter and it turned out to be a really nice display piece for a guy just casually collecting. Well I still have it and love it, but I would like to replace the dome, the apparent thinness of the plastic is taking away from it, that and the orange peel from the painting, especially sitting right next to the MR Vader helmet. Any ideas on a. which helmet/material would fit the mask properly and b. where I could find a caster who would just give up the dome. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I would leave it. The ones inthe movies had an orange peel effect to them. Besides, if your talking about striping the paint off, I hope you enjoy sanding. Thats the only reccomended way I would tell you.

Actually I'm looking for a replacement more than repainting what I have. I'm sure stripping the paint off of this is not as fun as peeling it off an HDPE stormie bucket! :)

For me, it isn't the thinness of the dome as much as how it is mounted that throws it off. The only way to fix THAT problem is to cut down that damnable T mount thing. It causes the dome to sit too high and tilt too far forward.

What he said :)

I've done this mod on my friend's DPCA. I didn't do it pretty, but its covered by the dome anyway. I simply took a hacksaw to the $300 plus dollar helmet while he looked on horrified.:love Cut where the t-stand meets the mask, but leave it connected at the bottom of the "T." Then bend it down and use a ton of hot glue. Put the dome on first to see how far you want to bend it down. The back of the dome should almost touch your shoulders(Let me know if I am wrong, experts). I'm sure there are better ways of doing it than hot glue, but it works and countless conventions later, its still holding up. Someone may be able to explain this better than me.
