Doing a clay pour of a mask?

MASKWORKS

Hey guys, I have a question for all you much more knowledgeable folks out there. I have a mask I'm just not happy with and ant to tweak it. I have an ultra cal 30 mold of it and was wondering how one would go about doing a clay pour of it? Im just wondering how you de-mold the pour with out completely destroying it? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks a lot guys,

JR

You'll need to make a silicone mould of your master copy.
You can pour clay into your UltraCal mould, but you're not gonna get it out because the UltraCal is ridged.

Here is an album of a guy doing a clay pour of one of his sculpts.

That's not the best example but it's the only one I have pics of right now. After you apply silicone you'll need a mother mould so the silicone keeps its shape. You can use epoxy, glass, plasti-paste, etc.

Do you have a picture of the molds you could post? I would think a nice thick layer of vaseline would allow to remove it as a whole. But it all depends on if you have any undercuts, or a lot of texture. But Slipknot's ideas is probably your best bet.
