Does anyone have info on the tiny filming model of the Falcon from ESB?

Just a quick shot of it from the making of ESB special:

It's from the TV special "SPFX: The Empire Strikes Back" that aired on CBS in 1980. This is the only shot of the model.

Thanks so much for the pics. I really aprecitate it. Does anyone know the scale of the larger of the two falcons?

Thanks

Great photos!!!

I assume this one was used when we see the falcon attached to the medical frigate in ESB correct?

I think it was when the Falcon was standing by on the tower of an Imperial Star Destroyer...

The tiny one in the pic I posted was on the SD tower in the wider shot showing the entire SD. The larger of the two was indeed the one docked to the medical frigate in wider shots. (The pan from the window to the Falcon was the 32".) Once the Falcon fires up, it's back to the 32 as well.

I'd have to go back and look at the closer shot of the Falcon parked on the SD, it might be this larger one as well.

Since the engines are not lit in any of those shots, maybe it was also used during the Asteroid chase or the chase leaving Bespin.

I thought the asteroid chase scene was the 3 footer..........this scene was supposed to be the very reason they made the 3 footer because the 5 footer was too unwieldy for use in the asteroid scene. The 3 footer gave them the flexibility for the crazy flying thru the asteroids. Those are great shots of the tiny versions by the way. :)

Are there any toys or ornaments of the falcon close to the size of that one in the pic?

there's the one from the MPC rebel base model kit

I thought they used the 5" version for the space slug sequence....

By and large, yes, but I was speculating that there might have been a shot or two here and there when the Falcon was supposed to be far away from the camera, facing away from us with the engine on, where the smaller model might've been used. Just trying to find a justification for the engine light, which was not seen in any of the specific shots of it we've found.

The slug, yes, that seems like a good possibility.

BTW, just to keep terminology straight, 'round these parts the ESB model is referred to as the "32 incher", and the ANH model "the four footer". Those are not exact measurements but a lot closer than three and five feet. :)

Just to the above, I've always heard them as the two footer and four footer, approx main hull sizes, not lengths. 32"?

Length, yes.

I don't mean to suggest one nomenclature is inferior to another, just pointing out the terms already established in this forum for the last 9 years. Just trying to make it easier for everyone. That said, everyone's free to use whatever terms they want--I won't pester y'all about it (any more :lol ).
